"Mom I'm home!" Well that's odd, I thought to myself, nobody's home yet. As I walked to the fridge to make myself some dinner I heard some voices coming from the living room. "Mom, is that you?" When I got no response I decided to go see who it was. As I got closer I could tell that my mom's voice was not part of the conversation going on in my living room. I decided it would be safer to stay back and try to find out who was talking.
I couldn't distinguish the gender of the voices, nor could I figure out what they were saying. I peered around the corner and almost fainted. There were two dark figures arguing around a very large table that I had never seen before. All of a sudden one of them jumped up and pulled out a gun. Before I could react, it shot whoever was sitting across the table.
I screamed out, and realized right away that I had given away my position. It looked up at me, and then the whole scene vanished. Before I could make any sense of what had just happened, my mom walked through the door. "Hey sweetie, sorry I'm late I got held up at work." "Its okay mom, I'm just going to go up to my room and get some sleep." "Are you sure?" My mom asked looking a little worried. "Yeah I'm sure." I shuddered as I looked over the railing of the staircase into the living room. "I will never be able to do my sunrise meditation in that room again." I thought to myself as I opened the door to my very messy bedroom.
Just as I walked into my room I heard that horrible screeching sound I have always heard. Instead of the normal blob of shadows, a figure started to appear. I stood by my door paralyzed with fear. It started to come towards me, and all I could do was stare at it. Just when I thought it was going to pull me into unending darkness, my phone rang.
The sound of my phone got me out of my mental coma, and I lunged for the curtains. I threw them open, and the figure vanished. I figured out awhile back that whatever these things are, they definitely don't like light. How I found that out is a whole other story. I was running around my room trying to get away from the shadows, and I tripped causing my curtains to come tumbling down.
I happen to be very clumsy, but that isn't always a bad thing. If it wasn't for my problem with walking, running, or doing anything that involves moving, I never would have found out a way to defend myself. I also wouldn't have run into Jake today, who ended up asking me out. I'd say that my clumsiness is a gift.
I realized that I actually was very tired, and decided to go to bed. I was dozing off when my phone rang again. I looked at the caller ID and saw that the number wasn't listed. "Hello?" I answered expecting it to be someone with the wrong number. "You can stop this and save the lives of many, but you have to be willing to die in order to do it." And then the line went dead. "Well that puts a damper on my pre sleep happy thoughts!" I sighed exasperated, and then fell into a much needed sleep.
