Prologue
I know what they are, and I know how to stop them. The problem is how do I find them. You may think I am talking about the evil that has been surrrounding me all my life, but that is not so. In order to make the evil stop, I must find those who are destined to rid the world of this evil. And possibly, themselves in the process.

Chapter 1
I can feel them. They are watching me always watching me. Have you ever felt like you are drowning in nothingness, and no one can hear you scream. Well that's how I feel as I run around the corner and find out that I am still being followed. I have always seen them, and heard them but I can never find out what they are. They make a horrible sound that apparently only I can hear. I made the mistake of screaming make the noise stop at the top of my lungs during an algebra test. Thanks to that little outburst of mine the principal called my mother, who ended up calling a psychiatrist. Now everyone at my school thinks that I am crazy, including my teacher. Mrs. Gordon has to make sure that I know that there is no noise before class starts. Everyday she asks the entire class if they hear a noise, and they always say, "Of course not Mrs. Gordon, only a crazy person would be hearing a loud racket at this end of the building." OK maybe not the crazy part, but she does ask the whole class. Then she goes over to my desk and tells me that there is no noise, but she has to say it like I don't understand English.
Well back to me running around the corner. I happened to run right into a random dude. As he helps me up I can't help thinking about how cute he is. He has light brown eyes that look as if they are staring into your soul, and he also has short brown hair. I realized that I was staring at him with my mouth hanging open like he was a piece of chocolate, or like I was a really stupid person that can't decide whether they just ran into a pole or a person. Hey I'm Jake, Jake Mathews. I manage to stutter out hi, and then I realize that I forgot to tell him my name. The worst part was that I was still staring at him like an idiot. Oh my gosh! I am so sorry! My name's Denise, Denise Reynolds. Well, nice to meet you Denise. You too, I'm so sorry about running into you like that. I was in such a hurry, and I wasn't paying attention to where I was going. I was about to ramble on some more and probably end up staring at him again, but he cut me off. Don't worry about it, it happens all the time. Really? I asked starting to feel a little relieved. No, but its ok. Hey, do want to get a drink sometime Denise. Stranger Danger! I blurt out without even thinking. Sorry, my mom told me to scream that whenever someone asked me to go somewhere with them.
Its ok, how does tomorrow at 5 sound. It sounds good to me, but I'm under 18 so it better be nonalcoholic, and you better not slip anything into my drink! I realized right after I screamed at him that I was being ridiculous.Ok! Don't worry about it; I'm not a criminal or anything. By the way I'm only fifteen, he said offensively. He sounded a little hurt so I decided to apologize for my very sudden outburst. Sorry, I'm not used to people asking me out. Don't worry about it. See ya tomorrow. See ya, I said a little relieved that he wasn't too offended. As I walked away, I couldn't help thinking about how calm I became when I ran into Jake. I shrugged it off, and continued to walk home.
