This is really random but it's been making me think a lot about this for some random reason.
I think because Ezmeralda and Carlos are Latino's, they are mistaken as having typical Latino features you expect in Tv/ Movies. I realise that most people don't read the description of all their details in the character introduction and it was hard to find pictures that fit their skin tones. (I finally found some good ones lol)
Both of them are Afro Latino, mixed race.
Carlos has a white Cuban mother and Black Cuban father.

Ezmeralda has a black Cuban mother and light skinned Mexican father (El Diablo Blanco) she has curly hair in most of the first book, but I couldn't find any good ones with curly hair like I imagine hers. She has dreadlocks in the second book that she ties back in a low bun most of the time :)
