"J... Jeon Jungkook?"My eyes widened, and my breath caught in my throat. Was I hallucinating? This couldn't be real.
My chest tightened, and an overwhelming urge to escape took over. My body, as if finally breaking free from its paralysis, moved on its own. I stumbled off his lap, nearly losing my footing in the process. He reached out to steady me, but the sight of his hand made my blood boil.
"Don't you dare touch me, you asshole!" I screamed, my voice sharp and trembling with anger.
He froze, his hand hovering mid-air before dropping helplessly to his side. My breathing came fast and erratic as I glared at him, every fiber of my being shaking with fury.
"How could you lie to me all this time, Jeon? Was it fun for you? Watching me miserable, watching me break?"
"No, no, it's not like that..." he stammered, his voice barely above a whisper.
But I didn't want to hear it. Not now. Not from him.
Not believing a single word, I backed away, pressing myself against the cold kitchen wall. The distance between us wasn't enough—I wanted to be anywhere but near him.
"I'm not Jeon Jungkook," he said softly.
"I'm Jade. Jeon Jade."
He took a hesitant step toward me, but I shot my hand out, palm facing him, stopping him in his tracks.
"DON'T," I warned sharply, my tone as cold as the wall behind me.
"Stop lying!" I hissed, my voice trembling with disbelief. "Jeon Jade? Seriously?"
A bitter laugh escaped my lips, sharp and sarcastic.
"You expect Me to believe that?"
His expression softened, his eyes searching mine for something—understanding, forgiveness, anything.
"I really am Jade, Y/N. Jungkook is my brother."
The words hung in the air, absurd and impossible. I stared at him, my mind reeling, unable to process what he'd just said.
"Precisely... twin brother," he clarified.
"I know it's hard for you to believe, but it's the truth. We're twins. Only, he was born completely normal—a human—while I... I was born a half-demon. Our parents never considered me their child."
Hurt flickered in his eyes, raw and unguarded, but it was gone in an instant, replaced by a mask of seriousness. He straightened, his gaze fixed on me with an unsettling intensity.
"I know taking control over you was wrong," he admitted.
"But I'm not sorry for it. If I hadn't, some other demon would have. And believe me, they wouldn't have stopped at just controlling you. They would have done far worse."
He let out a weary sigh, his shoulders slumping as he looked down.
"So no, I was never once guilty for what I did. It was the only way to protect you."
"You were like a walking demon magnet back then," he said, his voice low and firm.
"Your mental and physical energy were so drained, so vulnerable, that I couldn't just stand by and watch."
My breath caught in my throat.
"Does Jungkook know about you?"
He shook his head, rising to his feet and stepping closer. Before I could move away, he gently took my hands in his, his touch surprisingly warm.
