It took Luke 30 minutes to walk home and get his bike so he could make his way to the ice cream shop with the boys. When he arrived, he saw them sitting inside at one of those tall tables with the bar stool type chairs that spun. "Twinkle toes is here." Michael chuckled
Luke simply shrugged at sat down. Michael sighed and ordered Luke a sundae. Ashton crossed his arms. "What are you guys gonna do when I go off to university?" He murmured sighing. He was the glue that kept the guys together. He was practically the father of the the group.
"I dunno, probably end up in jail." Calum snorted, looking at Michael. "Especially him. Watch him attempt to overthrow the government and get sent to prison for life."
Michael flipped him the bird. "Oh fuck off Calum." He mumbled.
Luke wasn't really paying much attention to the boys until he heard Ashton mumble, "I'm leaving Australia at the end of the summer." Luke's head then snapped up.
"You..you're leaving Australia? But why?" Luke asked, his heart dropping into his stomach. Ashton was one of his best friends. Going most of your life with someone and then having them torn right out hurts like no other
"Well I'll be studying music in the UK for a while, I mean it sucks having to leave my job at KFC..." He trailed off into a story about how he works at KFC and everyone groaned.
"Shut up." Calum muttered. "Nobody cares about your damn KFC job." He mumbled.
Ashton pouted and leaned back in his seat. "I hate you guys."

Later on that day, they went to Ashton's house cause his parents were out of town for the weekend. They were just gonna kick back, drink a few beers and watch tv.
"Okay, is it just me or do Calum's nipples look extra small." Michael mumbled, trying to pick a fight and as Calum sat there shirtless, it was the best opportunity.
"Is it just me or is Michael a big huge dick with an ironically tiny penis?" Calum snapped back, rolling his eyes and chugging the rest of the beer he had in the bottle with a smirk.
"Low blow bro, low blow." Michael mumbled twice.
"Well it's the only kinda blows you're gonna get." Cal chuckled. Luke sat there, picking at the paper around the bottle he held as he always did; but he was quieter than usual.
"Hey buddy? You alright?" Michael asked, sitting up straight and instantly forgetting his anger at Calum.
"Yeah..." Luke mumbled quietly. "It's just... You know how it is at home. And then I'm writing to Rose and she seems so nice and happy and what not that I well... I lied. Most of the things in my letter were false and so fake it actually sickens me." Luke whispered.
"Don't worry about it bro, it's not like you're ever gonna meet her, she's just a pen pal." Ashton mumbled, sighing softly.
"Yeah, it'll be fine. Besides, it's not like it's not possible that she's lying too. You never know." Michael mumbled. "And Calum," he said, turning back to roast Calum again. "At least my dick isn't crooked." He snorted.
Calum huffed and crossed his arms as Luke slumped farther into his seat.

Rose sat at home in her bed, under her blankets. She held a notebook that she didn't use as a diary, but more to write poetry and short stories. She never let anyone read them; but that was mostly because she had no one to show.

When your life gets you down
and you haven't got a clue where to begin,
take a step back and think, "is this worth my pain?"

She sat and wrote everything that came to mind. It was mostly self positive quotes that came to her mind at the time. She loved trying to think of ways to love herself, even though she always managed to throw that thought straight into the garbage bin.
"Hey fuck face, it's dinner time." Rose's older sister Melissa said as she walked into Rose's room. Rose simply nodded and stood, setting the book down on her bed and went downstairs for dinner.

The whole family sat at the dinner table; Melissa, Rose, their younger brother Joey and their parents. Rose's parents ignored her quite a bit as she was the "screw up" child; although she got the best grades out of the three. Her parents talked between both Joey and Melissa, not even bothering to ask Rose how her day went.

"Mom, I have this project in class were-" Rose started but her mother waved her off to talk to Joey about his upcoming field trip to the D.C. zoo, even though everyone in their family had been at least twice in their lives. Rose slumped in her seat and pushed the plate away. "I'm going for a walk." She mumbled, knowing her parents weren't listening. She ran upstairs to her bedroom to grab her notebook. She was going to walk to the park and sit on one of the benches until it got too dark to see her words. She left the house quietly and began to walk down the sidewalk to the park; the only sounds coming from the grasshoppers that hid in the grass beside the sidewalk.
