Nigel only appears when Eugene is around mirrors much like Mik, Nigel is very different from his counter part. Nigel has his memories but the only person that can see and hear him is Eugene, although Mik can see him but not hear him. Nigel is stuck in the void. It's the place between the two realms, nothing exists in the void but the thoughts of those who get trapped there.
