Chapter 1: Frisbee Throwing

I can feel the vitamin D soaking into my skin as I lay on the soft sand in my pink Triangl Bikini.  As I blast 'Chocolate' by 1975, put my sunglasses on and close my eyes to take in the soft smell of ocean and sunscreen I think about my old life and where my new one might take me.  I never had a horrible life.  My family had its ups and downs and obviously my life wasn't perfect.  I had friends and I had enemies, but since the accident that forced me and my mother to move to Florida I just felt empty and alone.  I just hope my new life in this town will be okay.

THUD !

I shoot up from my trance wondering what just hit me in the head.  As I rub my skull I look over to see a girl about my age laughing her head off.

"Hahaha I'm...Hahaha I'm so sorry!  Are you okay?"  She says while running over to me still giggling.

"Umm yeah I guess so."  I reply while standing up still a little irritated that she was laughing at my expense.

"Oh, well my names Amber Braddock.  Sorry again!  My frisbee throwing isn't as on point as I hoped it would be."  She says while retrieving the white frisbee that must have been the object that hit me on the side of my head.  Amber had long brown hair and hazel eyes and can I just say her eyebrows were on fleek.

"That's okay I'm not very good at frisbee throwing either."  I reply trying to sound friendly.

"Well let me make it up to you.  Do you want to go get something to eat?  On me?"  She asks while grabbing her stuff  off of the sand.  I would have usually said no, but I was starving.

"Yeah sure, sounds good."  I grab my bag and put my long blond hair into a messy ponytail and slip on my high waisted shorts and my white crop top.  We both head over to the board walk.

----------------

"Yumm this is good!"  I say while taking another bite into my hot dog.

"Right?  I love getting hot dogs every time I come to the beach."  Amber responds while taking a sip of her Dr. Pepper.  Amber and I head to a bench near the end of the boardwalk to take in the beautiful view of the beach and the water.

"So, Avery how long have you lived in Cocoa Beach?" Amber asks while taking the last bite of her hot dog.

"Well actually I just moved here about a week ago with my mom."  I answer trying to hide my hopelessness and grief.  I look down at my feet remembering the reason for the unexpected and sudden move to Florida.

"Oh really? I've lived here my whole entire life."  She says.  Thank god she didn't notice my misery.

"Well I hope you enjoy living here.  It never gets boring in this town!  There's always something new around the corner!"  She declares sounding like an up beat realtor trying to sell me something.  I smile hoping she's right.  I look around at the now over flowing boardwalk.  People chatting and eating covered the once peaceful walkway.  I see all different kinds of people, but only notice one.  He was tall, about six feet with brown hair and blue eyes.  I couldn't help but notice his toned body and perfect jaw lines.  I gawk at, well everything and notice my mouth dropping.

"Alec Decker...Mmmm he sure is fine."  Amber says noticing my uncontrollable staring.

"W-what?"  Is all I can muster up.

"Alec Decker.  The guy you've been eyeballing."  she replies while laughing at me...again.

"Oh yeah." I blush trying to hide my face.

"Well I should be heading back.  My parents don't like when I'm gone too long."  Amber announces.  As we both get up I hear something fly at me.  Ugh not again.

BANG!

"What the-" I get cut off by snickering behind me.  I swear I'm usually not always the target of flying objects.  I turn around looking at the person who hit me in the back of the head with a football.  I see the so called Alec Decker pointing and laughing with his buddy's.

"What a prick!"  I hear Alec say to his friends.  They both laugh hysterically.

'This is going to be a long day' I tell my self.
