Chapter 14- Retaliation

"The President's press conference will begin momentarily."

All citizens of The Union knew about the horrendous massacre that took place in the Kingdom of Fenn. Propaganda leaflet's were all about in the capital and various other cities, which painted Parpaldia as not only Monarchist's but also subhuman in a way. The Parpaldia Empire's brutality was not limited to The Union however, they also terrorized countries known to be friendly with The Union.

Normally, this behavior would result in war, but the aggressor was the Parpaldia Empire. No matter how many countries outside the civilized areas they provoked, a superpower's national power was insurmountable. If it was only around 200 citizens, these weaker countries simply had to close their eyes to it.

But, this time the victim was The Union. Because the empire was so cocksure of their power, they may have miscalculated. Diplomats from various countries were all gathered in The Union with their eyes glued on a television.

Clap clap clap clap...

The President appeared, dressed in a stalinka, to the sound of camera shutters snapping. His glare was that of iron will, and it's there he earned the nickname "The Iron Curtain." When the president indicated that he was about to begin his address, the restless atmosphere gave way to complete silence. He waited a moment before speaking.

"Comrades, as I am sure you have heard, the town of Nishinomiyako in the country of Fenn has been attacked and destroyed by the Parpaldia Empire. Many innocent Vespechan citizens in the town were unable to evacuate and were captured by the empire.

"Our officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs immediately appealed to the Parpaldia Empire for their release, or face the wrath of our mighty Union, but they... unbelievably, chose to cruelly execute those citizens instead.

"...We will not condone this extreme act of brutality!"

"The perpetrators of this act of inhumanity will be made to pay for their sins!

"If the Parpaldia Empire is left alone and they defeat Fenn's army, there are about three thousand more of our comrade's at risk in the capital city of Amanoki. The Communist Party has the responsibility of protecting both Our Union and its citizens. In addition, our ally, the Kingdom of Fenn, has been occupied against their will, and we cannot turn a blind eye simply because their country is not our own country. Once Fenn has been fully liberated, we shall sweep through their pathetic excuse of a nation and make no mistake, our bomber's will raze Esthirant to the ground!!

The Great Motherland and our ally Fenn will stand together, united, and share the desire to protect all of our comrades from those who have invaded Fenn.

"By my authority as president, I hereby command all branches of The liberation army: use any means necessary to protect the lives of our citizens and rid the Kingdom of Fenn of all invaders from Parpaldia!"

The president then raised his fist high up in the air as he was met with a thunderous applause and the furious sound of shutters.

Kingdom of Altarus, royal capital Le Brias, underground resistance

After being decimated by the Parpaldia Empire, the Kingdom of Altarus became a vassal state of Parpaldia. However, the empire was unable to exert complete control over all parts of the country, so a few resistance cells popped up. One of those cells was able to receive magical communications from a third country.
