tate stood in front of the couch like it was a priority. charlton smiled at her, going to go up to her. tate smiled was forced, and as he was blind, he didn't notice it.
"hey baby." he said, interlocking their lips together. as cecilia heard their lips together she started to cringe. now all his lips was on tates, the ones she had kissed.
"hi." tate said back after the kiss, squeezing his hands as a nice manner. charlton furrowed his eyebrows at her.
"is something wrong?" he asked noticing the slight quiver in her eye when looking away. she opened her mouth then closed it.
"no!" she said immediately, making him feel suspicious. cecilia silently cursed to herself, god please let this be over soon. "i mean- yes. my grandma is just in the hospital and.." tate said before getting tears in her eyes, not ending her sentence.
charlton immediately felt sympathy for his girlfriend, pulling her into a hug. once tate was fully resting her head on his shoulder she cringed.
"you could've told me sooner.." he said, trying to give her a weak smile. tate wiped her nose and nodded.
"I didn't wanna ruin anything. sorry." she replied. cecilia couldn't see anything happen, but she's surprised by tate's acting skills.
charlton shook his head. "you wouldn't have, tate. i love you." he said giving her a smile and kiss on the forehead.
"me too." she said. cecilia laughed in her head from her reply. how did charlton not get the hint?
the conversation soon got interrupted by the sound of a phone being called. ringing. charlton picked up his phone from his back pocket.
his face turned a bit darker, maybe by the change of his mood. "sorry tate, but i need to go to this meeting. it's really last minute-"
"no, its fine!" she said, sniffling. charlton looked defeated as he looked down. once he looked up, cecilia could already feel the love he had for her. that is too bad though.
"bye- love you." he said kissing her cheek, and squeezing her hand once. he then walked away, not looking back once, but twice.
all tate did was nod in response. might've seemed selfish in other's eyes, but she can't lie to him straight up and say she did when her heart is for someone else.
as the door closed it felt as cecilia could finally breathe. "your grandma, really?" cecilia asked with a small laugh at the end of her sentence.
tate rolled her eyes jokingly, any sign of acting out of her face. "oh shut up!" she said nudging cecilias shoulder.
