THE GOLDEN CAGE

each evening, as the day descends,

she screams inside, her spirit bends

they search, a constant, fruitless quest,

for something that does not exist

her freedom's price, a cost immense,

a spotlight now demands her sense,

to choose the option, rare and bold,

a path where her true self unfolds

but all roads lead back to the cage,

a gilded prison, a gilded rage

yet in my gaze, this cage appears,

a sanctuary, where solace nears.
