each evening, as the day descends,
she screams inside, her spirit bends
they search, a constant, fruitless quest,
for something that does not exist
her freedom's price, a cost immense,
a spotlight now demands her sense,
to choose the option, rare and bold,
a path where her true self unfolds
but all roads lead back to the cage,
a gilded prison, a gilded rage
yet in my gaze, this cage appears,
a sanctuary, where solace nears.
