Anashé
"Wake up, Ana," I heard Kai's voice like it was right in front of me ...hovering over me. In my dream he was stroking my cheek, but his voice sounded angry. "Anashé Evans, wake up!"
The power behind the voice made me jump up out of my sleep, looking around frantically. My heart was pounding. What the fuck?
When our eyes met, my whole body sank into the couch, where mi mussi fall asleep last night. Kai's hazel eyes burned into me like hot daggers. Like he was battling between hugging me and strangling me to death and all of a sudden I couldn't breathe. He was wearing a blue dress suit, stooped down in front of me... and I don't know if it's because I haven't seen him in a while but my whole body went numb as even his smell became a soother for me at that moment.
My anger toward him is still there, but it wasn't stronger than my wanting to hug him right now. I just wanted my man back. I wanted this whole cheating fiasco to have been a bad dream and this was me waking up from it.
"Baby girl, wi need fi talk," he gritted through his clenched teeth. Oh shit, him vex yuh fuck!
"A-about what?" Shit mi all a stamma to shit!
Kai's eyes dimmed at me and he bit his bottom lip as if he were trying to avoid saying words he couldn't take back. He nodded his head and pulled out a gun, resting it on the couch next to me and I think I stopped breathing.
"B, I have a question for you," he sighed and I think I trembled a little at the thought that I may have made a mistake here—leaving and coming back thinking everything woulda good. But even so, I know Malikai wouldn't hurt me—-even if he was scary as fuck right now. If ants bite me him bex wid di ants much less. Right, Ana... him just vex... plus...rass! Michael is here!
But—wait, he was right beside me. We both fell asleep on the couch! Panic rose in my chest the moment everything dawned on me. It was like my heart was about to pump out of my chest.
"Do you ever plan to let me fix our marriage, or is this really it?" he asked, softly. His eyes were searching mine like him lost supn inna dem and my nervousness only grew the longer he stared at me. But his question...I —I can't even think about his question when I have questions of my own. Like where the hell is Michael?
Jesus Christ mi hope him nuh do him nuttn. Please, Kai, mi can't tek another thing pon mi conscience.
"Where is Michael?" I asked, ignoring his question. Mi sound brave, but mi fraid yuh fuck. Kai's eyes lit up like mi question shock the fuck outta him.
"Mi ask yuh if you're back and ready to give our marriage a chance, and yuh a ask mi bout next man?" him look pon mi like mi na'ave no sense, and kiss him teeth, standing up. "Mi see a weh you de pon enuh, Ana, and mi a tell yuh from now yuh nuh wah guh down dah road deh."
I sat up properly, to look up at him, "Kai, I am dead serious, where is he?" God? Please, please let that man be alive. He was right, mi shouldn't come back yet.
He chuckled and shook his head.
"Stand up, Ana," He said softly.
"Why?"
"You ask mi weh such man deh, doh?" he smirked. Ahh shit, this can't be good.
"Malikai—"
"Get the fuck up Anashé Evans, and doh mek mi affi ask yuh again," him nah shout, but he might as well be. I can't remember when last—if ever, Kai has spoken to me like this.
My eyes were wide with shock as I got to my feet.
"Good, yuh did have ears all along,"he shook his head. "Pass mi gun."
