Chapter 2: Plan In Action

Nikki's P.O.V:

As I stand here and look at my mostly empty bedroom, I am thinking about my decision. Should I stay or should I go? It's not like they will come looking for me. It's not like they care, I mean I'm not really their child. They still have their 2 month old son to take care of.

I hear footsteps coming up the stairs so I walk out of my room and shut the door so they don't see all of my bags.

I nonchalantly start walking away from my room. But I come face to face with my so called dad.

He said,"We are really sorry Nikki. We are going out to dinner. Jacob is at the neighbors house, so you have the whole house to yourself." He looked at me with pleading eyes as if to say,'please don't be mad at us.'

"Okay, I was just going downstairs to get a snack and some water." I lie to his face.

He nods and walks back downstairs. I trail along behind him. He walks out the front door without saying another word.

Ok. Now is my chance. I can leave without them trying to stop me. I watch their car drive down the road until I can no longer see it.

"I can do this. Let's get out of this hell hole." I say to myself.

I start the engine of my black, 2013 Chevy Silverado. After all of my bags are in the backseat, I begin to drive away. Not looking back.

At the airport:

A nice man helped me with my bags and asked me why I was in such a hurry.

"Oh, just family issues. Thank you for helping me. The world needs more people like you, Sir." I say as we walk to load my bags.

"No problem, sweetie! I'm sorry to hear about your family. Where are you headed to, if I may ask?" He asked me.

"Oh that's okay! I am flying to Sydney, Australia." I tell him.

*Flight to Sydney, Australia boards in 10 minutes, I repeat flight to Sydney, Australia boards in 10 minutes. Thank you*

I hear a voice throughout the airport.

"We'll have fun over there, dear. Have a safe flight." The old man tells me after the lady stopped talking.

"Thank you again, sir. I will, thank you." I smiled at the kind man.

I watched him hobble away from me. I turn around and go to get my ticket before I missed the flight.

*Flight to Sydney, Australia boarding now. Once again, flight to Sydney, Australia boarding now*

I take a deep breath and take in this moment. I send my few friends a simple text. 'I'm sorry.' I gave the lady my ticket and boarded my plane.

As I sat in my seat, I took a deep breath and hoped for a safe flight and a fresh start. I put on my Beats and turned on Someday by Nickelback.

The plane took off towards Australia. I looked at the land below me and whispered,"Goodbye Liars, you won't hurt me again."
