"You forgot your purse," Kai yells after Jennie while getting up to give it to her, but she's long gone.
Taehyung snatches it from him.
"I'll get it to her. Why don't you just enjoy your meal, hm? I'm sure it must've been tiring setting up this whole event, including the catering. You don't want it to go to waste now huh?" He says with slight mockery in his voice.
"You're right." Kai says, straightening up, "But listen, man, you don't have to be so worked up about trying to help where I can," He says again.
Taehyung inches forward, "Your help is not needed in my territory," Taehyung informs, his voice thick as he stares down at Kai.
Kai stares at Taehyung with a sinister gaze, "Well, she doesn't seem to mind my help," he says, inching closer.
tic tic tic
Taehyung's blood was practically blaring threatening to burn through his skin. "Stay the fuck away from her Kai. " Taehyung warns.
"Unfortunately, not tonight," Kai says with a smug look; that's all it took for Taehyung's patience to run out.
Taehyung dropped Jennie's purse and grabbed at Kai's collar pulling him closer.
"I swear I will fucking kill you if you ever get close to her. I don't give a fuck if we're blood-related." He whispers lowly, his eyes burning with fury and a desire to beat Kai to a pole.
But he holds back when he sees his older hyungs approaching from his peripheral vision. He looks around letting go of Kai by pushing him stumbling backwards.
He turns and runs his fingers through his hair; that's when he realizes that it's now or never.
If he doesn't go after Jennie now he may never get her back again.
Turning around, he grabs her purse and rushes out of the main hall into one of the rooms; he rushes upstairs, scanning every open room.
Jennie had a hidden talent, playing the piano. She claimed it was the closest thing— other than her pendant— to her mother.
When Taehyung heard the faint sound of a piano, he fastened his pace towards the room.
When he reached it, it was creaked open, the light of the room spilling into the dim hallway.
Taehyung inhaled deeply, then exhaled as he place his palm over the knob pushing it open.
The melody was much clearer, filled with emotion and intensity. Like someone pouring their heart into the keys, they press on.
Taehyung entered, and there she was. Jennie was sitting there, with her perfect posture yet she looked so vulnerable, so raw, so sincere.
And yes, she was indeed pouring her heart into the keys because she immediately felt his presence, and that quickened the rhythm with the same pace as her racing heart.
And it fastens and fastens until she gets tired, throwing her hands down in defeat as she lets out a heavy sigh.
"What are you doing here?" She asks without looking at who it is; she already knows she felt his presence.
She wished she could recognize his presence in a place so easily, so flawlessly; it felt like a curse. A beautiful curse.
"Why'd you stop?" He asks, disregarding her question as he is in inches loser, but every time he gets closer, her heart tightens.
"You played it so beautifully," He says or compliments; Jennie looks down at her hands, fidgeting with the rings on her finger.
She lets out a heavy sigh as she gets up and turns to face him. Their eyes meet, and she sees his eyes soften.
She's about to open her mouth, but her eyes fall on her bag; he follows her gaze.
"Oh, Uhm. I came to return this to you," he says, handing her the bag; she stares at the bag dumbfounded, but then she stares back at him.
"Thanks," she says so low it almost comes out as a whisper, and she takes it from him. And just for a second, their skin grazes against each other.
It was just a second, but it was enough to send a burning sensation down Taehyung's throat as he gulped thickly.
And that didn't go unnoticed by Jennie; she looked away, feeling the hairs on the back of her neck rise, as her breath hitched.
Even in the moment, the tension was running high.
"It's a pleasure." He lets out, maintaining his gaze at Jennie, who looks everywhere but him.
"I think we should get back; they must be waiting," She says, straightening up as she finally looks up to meet his gaze.
His eyes hold a pleading look. Can we please talk this out? So she looks away cause she's afraid that if she stared into his eyes a second longer, she might break down.
And she couldn't do that right now so she leaves, and Taehyung watches her walk out with his heart clenched.
Dramatic? Whatever isn't, this is what dramas show us. Just learned from the best
haha, okay, jokes aside, y'all.
