"Do you want to dance?"
"I can't really dance." She watched the bartender make their drinks. "You go have fun though."
Zayn sat down at the sit to her right. "You really think I'm leaving you alone here?"
"I can handle myself you know."
"I'm sure you can, but you are my guest and I'm going to make sure no creeps try and hit on you again."
She rolled her eyes. "Look I don't need a babysitter, okay?"
"You're a fiesty one aren't you?" His eyes made their way to the door. "Uh I'll be back." He went to tend to his business leaving Lauren alone at the bar. Yes she asked to be alone, but she didn't like it.
"Here's your drink. I'm Liam by the way." Liam put the drink down on a napkin. "First time here?"
"Yeah," She looked around.
"You came with Zayn right?" She nodded, placing her now empty glass on the counter. "You're the first girl he's brought here since his dad passed."
"Why are you telling me this?"
"Just thought you might wanna know that you must be very important to him."
Lauren couldn't help but think about what Liam said, "When did his dad die?"
"July 23rd, 2013. This place almost shut down because he was always drunk and never attended meetings or put aside money for supplies."
Lauren was curious about Zayn. He seemed so mysterious and closed off to the world. If she could found out more about him she was going to take the opportunity, "What changed?"
"Well his mom was very sick, so he had to go back to England. Thank God it wasn't anything serious, but it scared him so bad that he might lose another parent. Then he realized life and everything you have is to be cherished."
"Wow," Lauren looked at Liam, "Anything else you could tell me about him?"
"Oh sure, but I think he should tell you instead." Liam smiled, pointing to a figure making his way over to the pair.
Lauren pushed herself off the stool, quickly walking to Zayn. "I want to dance now if you're up to it?"
Zayn held out his hand only to have it pushed away. She walked away, looking behind her shoulder. "Come on slow poke."
"This one's going to be a good one." Zayn shook his head, following Lauren to the middle of the dance floor.
Lauren started swishing her hips to the beat of the music. Her hands moving around while she was losing herself into the music. She turned her back to Zayn, continuing to move to the beat. He moved closer to her pressing her ass against his pelvis.
"This song is good, don't you think?" He whispered into her ear. Her stomach churning, when his breath hit behind her ear.
"Of course," She slowly moved her ass against him. "But your talking is ruining it."
"Then I guess I have no choice, but to let my hands do the talking." His hands were firmly placed on her hips, helping her move them.
Lauren smiled, feeling his hands grip her hips. She turned around in a swift motion, resting her hand at the nape of his neck.
Running her hand through his hair, she started dancing against him. Turning her head occasionally to see Liam smirking.
"Do you want to take this somewhere else?" She suggested, moving her mouth to his ear. "I live near 96th and Broadway."
Zayn pulled his head back, letting go of her hips. "Lets go." He held out his hand for her to grab.
She held his hand, following him over to his car. Zayn opened the car door for her, helping her inside. Once he made his way into ths driverz seat he started his car. "So let me guess you live in a pent house?"
"Mhm." She nodded her head, looking out the car window. "And you?"
"I live in a studio apartment."
"Are you serious? Your club is successful how could you be living in a studio apartment?"
He shrugged, focusing on the road. "I wanted something simple. Besides pent houses are for the snotty." Zayn looked at her for a brief moment, watching for a reaction.
"Oh shut up." She rolled her eyes, catching on to Zayn's playful tone.
The rest of the car rest was full of an awkward silence. Lauren just wanting to go home and maybe get laid after her break up. And Zayn struggling with new topics for a conversation.
"It's that apartment right there." She spoke up, pointing to her left. Zayn pulled over to the carb, handing his key to the valet.
They walked inside making their way to the elevator. Out the corner of her eye Lauren saw someone with blonde hair making their way towards them.
"Hey, Jauregui" the blonde looked Zayn up and down "Long time no see."
"Hello, Dinah." Lauren rolled her eyes, turning her attention the elevator indicator.
"Are you going to introduce me to this hunk?"
"No, no i wasn't planning on it." She pressed the button one more time, trying desperately to get out of this situation.
"Hi, I'm Dinah Jane Hansen." The blonde held her hand out. Zayn took her hand and lightly placed a kiss on her knuckles. Lauren had rolled her eyes at their exchange.
"Zayn Malik." He said softly, letting go of her hand.
The elevator had finally made its way to lobby. Couldn't get here sooner? Lauren thought. "Well Dinah, it was wonderful chatting with you but Zayn and I are gonna go."
"Aren't you taking the elevator? We can all go together." She challenged.
"Well I could really use the exercise so I think we're gonna take the stairs." Lauren pointed to the stair case.
"That's not all you need, but that is a great start, Jauregui!" Dinah smirked, walking into the elevator. "It was nice meeting you Zayn."
"Bitch," Lauren mumbled. "Let's go."
"Yes, ma'am." He teased while following her. "I think we should've took the elevator."
"I don't remember asking for your opinion?" She rolled her eyes, letting Zayn open the door marked '1st Floor'.
"Just thought I should give you the privilege of hearing what I have to say." He shrugged, following behind her. "Which floor do you live on?"
"The 14th floor. I like to look down from my window and see how small everything and everybody looks." Lauren started skipping steps, trying to reach their destination quickly.
"So I take it you like flying?" She gave him a questioning look, wondering how the topic had changed to flying. "Looking at buildings getting smaller and smaller, I mean."
"Ironically, no. I'm scared of heights, I do not like to be too high up. I'm more comfortable being in the middle, you know?"
"The middle? You never wondered what it would feel like being high in the sky? To feel like a king."
"Sometimes I think about talking a plane to see my parents, but I just settle with driving." She walked up the final set of steps. "That was quite an exercise." She smiled as Zayn opened the door for her.
"Lead the way, Ms. Jauregui."
