"Isabella, you are seriously behind in almost everything!" Professor McGonnogal told Izzy. She had been confused when she first was called to the office, and now she regretted coming completely. "I mean, how on Earth can you and Mr Lupin be so different? Your brother is receiving O's in all of his subjects, you've been sitting on D's and T's for weeks! This is unacceptable."

Isabella knew that she was incredibly behind in all of her studies. At Beauxbatons, she avoided doing her homework because she and her friends would mess around instead, and in her lessons she'd typically just chat and plan their next prank.

At Hogwarts, she had been trying but nothing was making any sense at all. She was too far behind, and whenever she tried to come to grips with things, she just felt overwhelmed and gave up.

"Don't you have anything to say for yourself?" Professor McGonnogal asked, and Izzy simply shrugged.

"Surely they aren't all D's and T's?" She asked hopefully. The idea of getting a troll as a grade wasn't very exciting. In fact, it just sounded quite silly.

"Other than Defence Against the Dark Arts and Astronomy, they are, Miss Lupin. I'm going to have to write to your parents. If these grades don't go up by January, you're going to have to be tutored on all of your subjects. For now, I'm taking away your access Hogsmeade."

"That's not fair!" Izzy cried, staring at the professor in shock. "It's not my fault! It's just hard!"

"Well you're going to have to put in the effort, and then we shall revisit."

"Fine," she huffed.

"Biscuit?" McGonnogal asked, raising her eyebrows at the girls attitude.

"Yes please," the trace of a smile appeared on Isabella's face.

"Has there been any progress with Remus?" McGonnogal asked.

James had once told Izzy "one minute she'll be Professor McGonnogal, the next she'll be Minnie and she won't be telling you off!" And it was hard to focus on anything other than how bloody accurate she had been!

"There has not," Izzy sighed, "but at least he's not getting worse, eh?"

"Well, I can't argue with that," McGonnogal said softly. "Do you think your relationship with him is what's affecting your grades?"

"As much as I'd like to say yes and get him into trouble, I'd be lying," Izzy grinned. "I've just been behind for so long that it's hard to catch up on everything."

"Would you like me to look into getting you a tutor? I'm sure there are some students who'd be more than willing to help you? Mr Potter, perhaps?"

"No thank you," Izzy waved her off, not noticing the professors suspicious smirk. Izzy and James still weren't really talking. He was always with Remus, Sirius and Peter, and she didn't want the drama that came with going near their little boy band. "If I'm struggling too much, I can always ask Lily."

"Miss Evans is probably the better person to go to," McGonnogal nodded, though little to Isabella's knowledge, she was concerned about her bet with Professor Flitwick. "Are you sure you don't need a tutor?"

"I'm certain."

"We'll go back over the idea in January, after exams have been marked. For now, I suggest you try as hard as you can to get back onto the right page."

McGonnogal had said that to Izzy in late September, and it was now mid-October.

She could now almost always be found in the library, sometimes with Lily and Alice, sometimes by herself. She studied hard everyday, finding a new interest in academic validation.
