The Road to Nationals (A Dance Moms Fic)

Chapter 8: Dinner

After three days of rehearsals, Connor was at the front desk finishing up some paperwork for Abby, who asked him to do it for her and it only took him 15 minutes as the girls were in the dancers den just chattering.

"Kendall, how are you enjoying being a part of the dancing team?" Maddie asked,

"I like it and i've learned a lot of new things from Connor and Miss Abby." Kendall admitted.

"That's good." Nia said.

"I've got a question for you all. Out of all of you, who is the closest to Connor?" Kendall wondered.

"Connor, like Miss Abby cares about us even though and the one that's closest to him is Chloe." Paige replied to the new ALDC member.

"Whenever Chloe had trouble, Connor is there to help her out, one time she had a solo and Miss Abby was not happy, so Connor stepped up to the plate and did the moves for her and with his help, she did the moves at the competition and got first place." Mackenzie said.

"Kendall, have you ever been to the Santa Monica pier?" Brooke K asked.

"No, i haven't." Kendall replied.

"It's a fun place to go, it has a Trapeze School, an arcade, an aquarium, a park with rides and many other fun things there." Brooke explained.

"We've been there before and Miss Abby told us that she used to take Connor there when he was a kid." Paige added.

"Kendall, just to let you know, we frequently face Cathy and the candy apples like we did last weekend at one point, we'll have to go against her again." Maddie stated.

"We'll chop those apples down to size no matter what Cathy tries to do!" Paige declared.

"Kendall, last season before you joined, Cathy and Vivi were a part of the team and Connor did not like Cathy, even Miss Abby didn't like her and at four competitions before Nationals, Cathy got into an argument with Miss Abby and Connor and then Cathy slapped Connor in the face and Miss Abby was so angry, she kicked Cathy and Vivi off the team." Nia explained to Kendall

"Whoa..." Kendall said, eyes widening at the story.

"And since the 3rd competition before Nationals, we've been going up against the Candy Apples." Mackenzie stated.

Up in the viewing room, the moms were talking about the competition that was coming up the next day.

"The last time we were in Phoenix, our group dance lost." Christi reminisced.

"Yeah, and Abby and Connor yelled at us." Kelly stated.

"I'm really surprised that Maddie is on the bottom pyramid and Chloe's been at the top for the second straight time, usually Maddie would be at the top." Hollie said.

"Don't worry, this is only a minor setback for Maddie, she'll be back at the top before you know it." Melissa stated with a slight hint of arrogance in her voice.

"Melissa, don't get to arrogant." Kelly warned. "Because that could be the start of a downfall."

"Maddie is still the best dancer in my book even though Abby and Connor have yelled at her." Melissa retorted.

"Chloe's has been at the top of the pyramid two times in a row this season and she's a humble person and she doesn't brag about it." Christi added. "And you never know, Mackenzie could be beating Maddie one day."

"We'll see about that."

"Question, what cities will we frequently travel to for competitions?" Jill asked.
