Two days had passed since the first competition of the 2011-12 dancing season and at the ALDC, Connor was the first to arrive at the studio and sat at the front desk, turned on his mp3 player and began to read a novel called State of Wonder and he was decked out in black track pants, a Dustin Brown Los Angeles Kings jersey and adidas sneakers. Connor had a lot of songs on his MP3 player and the song he was listening to was "Tabloid Junkie" by Michael Jackson.
"Just because you read it in a magazine or see it on the tv screen don't make it factual..." Connor sang to the song as he read his book and 10 minutes later, the door opened and coming in was Abby, who was wearing her usual ALDC attire.
"Whatcha singing?" Abby asked her son.
"Hey, mom. I was listening to Tabloid Junkie, which is sung by Michael Jackson." Connor answered.
"You've been listening to his music ever since i first introduced you to his music, the first song you ever heard was Beat It and that was from his largest selling album, Thriller."
"I sure did. I also remember June 25th of 2009, the day he nearly passed away but with the quick thinking of his kids Prince, Paris and Blanket, he lived." Connor said, remembering that near tragic day.
"Yeah, and his This is it concerts were a huge success and he's known to light up a stage with his dazzling performances since his days in the Jackson 5." Abby added, then she changed the subject. "What did you think of that competition this past saturday?"
"The girls did fantastic, like i knew they would." Connor said. "But the stunt that Cathy pulled by putting Erika in the wrong age division is confounding."
Abby rolled her eyes. "Cathy's always so desperate to find ways to beat us. Who knows what she'll try the pull the next time we compete against her?"
"I know, right?" Connor agreed, then coming into the studio next was Gianna. "Hello, Gia."
"Hi, Connor." Gianna replied sweetly to her boyfriend and they gave each other a quick kiss as Abby smiled at the romantic moment, then Gianna turned her attention to the chief choreographer. "How's it going, Miss Abby?"
"It's going good, Gianna." Abby said to her assistant choreographer, the girls arrived with Chloe coming in first and Maddie and Mackenzie coming in last.
"Girls, it's showtime, it's just another week at the ALDC!" Connor shouted as Chloe, Brooke, Paige, Nia, Maddie, Mackenzie, Kendall and Brookie all came in with their moms.
"Before we get started with the pyramid, i would like to present this Abby Lee Dance Company jacket to Kendall, she proved herself in the group dance this past weekend." Abby said, revealing a pink ALDC jacket with Kendall's name on the back.
"Yay, Kendall!" Brooke K cheered.
"We're so happy for you!" Chloe said, giving Kendall a high five.
"Thank you, Miss Abby. Thank you, Connor. I won't let you down!" Kendall exclaimed, shaking Abby and Connor's hands and Jill was still beaming.
"You're welcome, Kendall and we're glad to hear that." Connor stated, even though he and Abby could be tough on the girls, they care about them like family and have looked out for them and their families.
"All right, let's get down to business. First on the pyramid, we have Paige." Abby stated, revealing the headshot of Paige. "You blended in the group dance and you didn't have a solo, so not much to judge you on."
"Next, Maddie." Connor said. "We expected better from you in the group dance, but you've fallen off the radar and also you need to stay in beat because we noticed that you were off in the group dance."
