CHAPTER THIRTY FOUR

Rebekah flat out refused to sleep in a bed with any of her brothers. Klaus rolled his eyes and suggested that she sleep in the car, resulting in several angry protests. The rest of the siblings unanimously decided that if anyone was sleeping in the car, it would be Klaus.

"Nobody needs to sleep in the car, there is plenty of room inside!" I said, trying to mediate the ongoing discussion.

"Klaus can sleep in the woods with the rest of his brethren." Kol suggested with a wry smile.

"There are no wolves in England, idiot." Klaus shot back.

"How about werewolves?" Kol retorted and I pinched the bridge of my nose. How on earth was I meant to be the mate to a bunch of squabbling siblings?

"How about I drag some mattresses into the living room and we can all sleep on those?" Henrik suggested.

"Wonderful, a sleepover!" Klaus grumbled, "Perhaps we can braid each others hair."

"I think I would rather sleep in the car." Rebekah muttered.

"Children, please." Elijah said, pinching the bridge of his nose as his siblings continued to quarrel.

"You know, they probably wouldn't notice if we disappeared and picked up were we left off earlier," I whispered into Henrik's ear and the room went silent. My cheeks went red when I noticed everyone looking at me. "Okay, maybe they would notice."

Eventually, after several more snarky comments, the sleeping arrangements were sorted. Given that Henrik and I were the only mortals, we would get the luxury of my bed along with Elijah, who I felt the most comfortable sleeping next to. Rebekah begrudgingly accepted the couch, leaving Finn, Kol and Klaus to share Henrik's bed.

"I hope you are not overly fond of your belongings." Elijah said to Henrik as I slipped into my bedroom after changing into a nightie in the bathroom.

"Why?" I asked with a frown.

"Because Kol is currently threatening to throw several items at Klaus." Elijah said, looking towards the wall with a sigh.

"Those three probably won't survive the night, huh?" I mused with a shy smile. I was rewarded with a rare chuckle from Elijah, who wrapped his arms around me in a brief hug and pressed a kiss to my forehead.

"Let's just hope that they murder each other quietly so the rest of us can get some sleep." Henrik quipped as he slipped into bed, his eyes lingering on my nightie.

"I must make a call," Elijah said, pulling a phone from his suit pocket, "I shall return momentarily."

The moment the door closed behind him, I quickly made my way over the the bed, where I climbed on top on Henrik, my knees settling either side of his body. He grinned up at me before capturing my lips with his. I wrapped my arms around his neck, pulling his closer as I lost myself in the feel of him. I had no idea how long Elijah would be gone so I savored every second, especially since alone time would most likely become rare now that there were five vampires in our two bedroom house.

I tipped my head back as Henrik trailed kisses down my neck and heat erupted throughout my body. On instinct, my hips began to rock against his and even through the blanket and his pajama trousers, I could feel the evidence of how much he wanted me. Henrik barely suppressed a groan and I let out a breathless chuckle and my fingers gripped his hair.

"You need to be quiet," I teased him, tugging on his hair and baring his throat to me. I began pressing soft kisses to his jaw, loving the feel of his stubble against my lips. I let out a startled cry when Henrik rolled up over so that he was now on top of me.
