Elle limped and hopped through the rain and raging thunder. She imagined the dancing trees dancing trees were rooting for her. He already slipped on the wet road once, and she, despite all her current handicaps, did not.  But she knew she was not going to be so lucky again.

Headlights shone on her back made adrenaline pump through her veins. It was him. No one else who lived back that way would go out at 3 in the morning, would they?

The welcome wave of numbness from the adrenaline helped her hop faster towards the bend in the road.

Right as she reached the curve, she slipped. Her arms and knees broke her fall. She cried out in pain, she could feel her badly bruised knees throbbing and the battered bones of her right calf fracturing more.

She slowly stood back up on her left leg. Just as she regained balance, she she was blinded by bright lights from the front. That was the last thing she could take in before she got hit by a van full of college kids on their way to camp and party in Covtona woods.
