Mia set the phone down with a breathless grin, her pulse quickening. This was it. After weeks of applications and rejections, this was the break she'd been waiting for. It could lead to her dream job of becoming a curator one day. After an excited squeal, she composed herself just enough to shoot Jenna a text.
Mia: Just got an email from Larkspur Art Museum! They want to schedule an interview!
Jenna: OMG! AMAZING WHEN?!??
Mia: They sent a few dates and times. I think I'll choose Wednesday. It's right after my last class.
Jenna: youll smash it!!
Mia: Thanks. I'm nervous but excited.
Jenna: wait we should practice, I help!
Mia: Honestly, please.
Jenna: almost home, 5 min
Mia laughed and set her phone down. She couldn't help the feeling of excitement that surged through her. This was the first real step toward her career. She didn't want to mess it up. She turned back to her breakfast, but her mind wandered. Should she tell Jake about the interview? Before she could second-guess herself, she sent him a text.
Mia: Hey, guess what!
Jake: What?
Mia: Guess who's got an interview for a job that could lead to a dream job!
Jake: THAT'S AMAZING!! When is it?
Mia: I'm thinking Wednesday at 3 PM.
Jake: You'll nail it! Need any help prepping?
Mia: Maybe. Jenna's going to help me too.
Jake: What are you doing for dinner tonight?
Mia: Probably frozen pizza. Why?
