Chapter 4 - Don't Be Ridiculous, We're Family

My friend with her waving red hair was looking at me questioningly. I didn't know how fast to push Douglas away from me. And Douglas made it worse by pouting at me and saying: "Come on, drop the act already. I know somewhere deep down in that rotten heart of yours you like me." He pointed with his index finger to the spot between my breasts where my heart's supposed to be.

Shirley stood by us, raising her left eyebrow and crossing her arms. And just when I thought this day couldn't get any worse already Danial walked by too. He stopped dead in his tracks when he saw Douglas so close to me. He threw his hands up in the air.

"So there's room for this ass in your life but not for the DanDan?" He exclaimed and tried to emphasize his good looks.

Shirley fell in a fit of laughter. "You didn't just call yourself DanDan? I thought you hated that name?"

"Not when she uses it." He nodded in my direction and wiggled his eyebrows. I think I made a gagging sound, because Douglas started laughing a breathy laugh that I could feel on my face.

Somewhere from further on in the hallway I heard someone calling out to Danial. "Dannyyyy, what are you doing with those three losers?" Quickly she strutted closer to us and clung to Danial's arm. She was petting it like a puppy. When she didn't get a response from him she pulled him away from by his wrist.

I have to admit the girl has an angelic face and a body to die for. And seeing as she's wearing the school colours instead of the appertained uniforms, she's probably a cheerleader.

Danial turned around one last time to face us and mouthed: 'Thinks she's my girlfriend, b*tch crazy.' Soon after Douglas left us too with the message that he had to go meet his friends or something. And then Shirley wrapped her arm around my shoulder. "You have some explaining to do."

Homeroom was over before I knew it and I hadn't even talked to Shirley yet because she was sitting on the other side of the room as we had assigned seats and I got the last free one beside some kid no one liked. And for a good reason he's smelly.

The two hours after that were filled with Chemistry class. Our Chemistry teacher had called in sick all week last week, so this was my first time seeing the teacher. Somewhere he resembled my dad, my real dad. He introduced himself as Mr. Albus Grey and said I could sit anywhere I wanted.

So I took the middle seat of a block of three on Shirley's left side, leaving the far left seat empty. But faith was not on my side today and Douglas stumbled into the classroom after the last student had taken a place. He mumbled something to the teacher, seemingly embarrassed. The teacher just nodded and told him to sit anywhere because he wanted to start his lesson. And fortunately he picked the seat on my left.

I grabbed one of Shirley's stickies and wrote on it: What are you doing here? Thought you were a year higher? I placed it on his still closed book.

Within a few seconds I received it back with in a very neat handwriting. I am, failed this class last year, have to do both this and my year's. I nodded and ignored him for the rest of the following hour. Trying to focus on the teacher's lecture. But that's harder than you think when he's as hot as mine.

As I was so caught up in staring at the teacher I hadn't noticed Douglas had grabbed another sticky and wrote me a note until Shirley tapped on my lower arm. I looked down at the note and it said: You're totally checking him out, what's wrong with me?
