Chapter 2: The Realisation

 *Edited*

Wilfred's POV

Her brown hair fell to her shoulders in soft waves, exposing her petite features. She had a beautifully shaped nose and rosy cheeks, with lips the shade of a newly ripened peach. Her blue eyes looked at me in such surprise. Those mesmerizing eyes of hers were such a unique colour, a magnificent mix of blue and green, almost turquoise.

"Sire...?" Vicky called.

Was I staring? That must've scared her quite a bit. Realizing that it was rather unprofessional, I cleared my throat, hoping that she did not notice my blatant stare.

"My lady, it is my pleasure to meet you on this fateful day in the beautiful Rose Square. May I have the honour of knowing your name?" I said quickly.

Though I knew from Lily that she was called Vicky, I didn't want to be rude in front of such a beauty.

"The honour is all mine, sire. My name is Victoria Williams, and this is my sister whom you've already met, Lily Williams," she said with such a gentle smile.

"Ah yes, Young Lily. Bright child, isn't she? First child I'd ever seen to appreciate the beauty of nature. I must say I was rather im-"

"Your highness!" that familiar voice rang out. It called out continuously as it got closer. That was Andrew, once again, running to my side and bowing deeply.

Vicky must have realized my identity and kneeled in shock, causing Lily to kneel too. I wanted to get her up, but she didn't give me that chance.

"I-Im terribly sorry, your highness. I didn't know that you-you're the..." Vicky stuttered, suddenly hiding her beautiful eyes and I could hear her voice shivering in fear.

Don't... Don't be so afraid of me... I thought, wanting her to get up off the floor.

"Are you Prince Wilfred?" Lily asked in a timid voice.

"Lily!" Vicky hissed.

It hurt me to see her so fearful. What must I do to make this stop?

"Indeed, young one. I am the prince of your kingdom, Prince Wilfred Alexander Spencer. I, err, am very disappointed to see my citizens unable to recognize me at first sight. Therefore, I have decided to punish the both of you," I said.

It was the only reason I could think of to get them to come back to the castle with me.

"Andrew!" I called for my butler.

"Yes, your highness."

I turned and whispered to him," I want them in the carriage with me. Prepare the guest's room in that castle, the one nearest to my room. I have decided that Victoria Williams is going to be my partner for tomorrow night's Easter celebration. And remember, treat them as delicately as possible."

"B-but you highness! I do not think that you're allowed to take any commoners on the street to be your partner! I certainly know that the King would not allow such rash decisions! I-" Andrew protested, but I cut him off.

"Have you not heard my command? Didn't you say that my wish is your command? Hurry up and move along now!" I demanded.

Andrew could be really naggy at times.

"I... Yes, you highness," he reluctantly agreed.

"Back to the castle!" I ordered.

"Wa-Wait! Wait! Your highness! I'm sorry. It wasn't on purpose! Please let us go! Please!" Vicky pleaded.

In a moment like this, I couldn't make such a decision. I had to get to know her better and I had no intentions of letting them go.

Soon, we were in the carriage facing one another, the silence broken only by the sound of galloping horses.

"Vicky, are we being captured? Are we being sent to the dungeons? Are we going to be killed?" Lily asked, surprisingly, in a rather calm tone.

"Shh Lily. Everything's going to be alright." Vicky said, embracing Lily tightly before turning her eyes, now burning with hatred, to me.

"Please tell me, your highness. Where are you taking us to?" Vicky said in a shaking voice.

"We're going back to the castle, like I said. But don't worry, young Lily. You're not captured, or going to be thrown into the dungeons, and definitely not going to be killed. Your sister is just going to a party with me," I said, hoping to bring them some peace.

The two sisters then exchanged glances, then looked back at me in further doubt.
