Chapter 4: The Dress Picking
*Edited*
Vicky's POV
I've been living in the castle for one day and it has already surpassed my wildest dreams, the food, the bed, the bath; everything. Everything was so grand and unbelievably fascinating. But I cannot forget what I was here for.
I was going to the celebration Prince Wilfred's partner tonight.
The thought sent thrills up my back and caused the tingly feeling where he kissed on my hand to start to, well, tingle again. When I think back on what he said, I couldn't help but smile to myself a little.
At about four o'clock in the afternoon, there was a knock on the door once again. Maria went to open to the door to see Andrew walking into the middle of the room and bowed to me. However, he was not alone. There were ten other maids carrying items in their hands that followed him into the room. They lined up together and bowed in unison towards me. What was going on?
"Miss Williams. These materials are to prepare you for the celebration tonight. Maria would help you get ready for it and you will find everything you need here with these maids. I'll come back in 2 hours' time to escort you to the carriage," Andrew said and left the room as quickly as he came in.
Right, we definitely have to prepare for the celebration. I must not put Prince Wilfred's reputation to shame.
"Miss Victoria, allow me to tell you what I would be doing as preparation. First, you would pick your dress. Next you will go for a bath and I will do your hair. After which, you would step into the gown that you've chosen and after some make up, you will be ready to be the belle of any party," Maria said the last few words in such glee that it made me blush a little.
"You're flattering me, Maria," I said, smiling to her.
"I don't think so, Miss Victoria. Do note that our Prince does not just choose any random girl that he meets on the streets to attend a celebration with him. I can assure you, he has seen something in you, so much that he had to bring you back to the castle. Now, pick a dress to wear for the celebration," Maria said after pushing me toward all the dresses that were held in front of me by the ten other maids.
Wow... I couldn't believe that there was a room that could fit 13 people and so much other furniture!
"Vicky! Look, look! They have gowns for me too! I like this dress!" Lily called out as she pointed to a daffodil-yellow coloured dress that had a beautiful brown corset that complemented the yellow perfectly. It also had a headband of the same brown but with daffodils coiled around it. Most importantly, the dress was completely made of silk. Such a valuable material...
"Lily... I'm not sure if we could just pick any of the dresses..." I looked that the extravagance of the dress, more than a little worried.
"Prince Wilfred has said that all the dresses are already yours. They will all be sent to your house after the party, so don't worry and pick whichever one you like," Maria assured us.
"Really? We can?" I asked, shocked by the prince's generosity.
Maria just smiled and calmly nodded her head.
"Then I'll take this one!" Lily said as she hugged the maid holding the daffodil dress, startling the maid and causing all the other maids to giggle lightly. I must say, I giggled at her actions too.
"Alright, Miss Lily. What about you, Miss Victoria? Which dress would you like?" Maria said.
There were at least twelve dresses all of different colour and design held in front of me and they all looked spectacular, but there was one dress that I knew was the one I wanted to wear.
"I'll pick that one," I said, pointing to the one that had caught my eye.
"Wise choice, Miss Victoria. Now, let's have a bath first. Come along now, Miss Victoria," Maria said as she led me into the bathroom that had a bathtub filled with bubbles and smelt heavenly.
Hmmm... Rose Geranium... How lovely...
Though it felt great, I couldn't help but feel a little nervous.
