With a gasp i wake up, or that feels like it at first. I'm staring down at the earth, from some form of greek golden chariot. The cloud low down and passing us by as i look at the ocean that stretches on for miles. My heart is racing in my chest, i'm wearing some kind of greek toga, entirely white in fabric as it pools around at my feet and is held together with a golden robe like belt around my waist. My hair is shining brightly in the gleam of the sun, soft and untangled. It's longer than I remember it.
I look around the chariot that looks like it had flown right out of a greek amphitheater game. At the head i see Apollo standing as he holds the reins of the chariots with golden flying horses at the front, their golden wings beating and shining in the sun.
He's wearing a white toga himself, decorated with all kinds of symbols that represent him in a golden embroidery. The same golden belt wrapped around his waist as he wears golden sandals, his hair shines like the sun but i can just look at it. It's curly gold and it looks like he had taken a dive in the ocean before riding off.
"Phoebus?" I softly say his name.
He partly turns to me, holding his hand out for me to grab. I take his hand and he pulls me to the front. I'm taller than normally, instead of being the height of a twelve year old, i reach to his chin and my hips level at the front of the chariots railing, which should be up to my navel.
"I'm sorry it took me so long to pull you out." He says as his hand comes around the other side of me, caging me in and yet, it makes me feel like he is trying to secure me in the chariot and not let me fall. "He was stronger this time, on purposely blocking me out from you."
I hum. Looking at the golden pegasus in front of me, before i mustered up the courage to ask him. "Was it true?" I ask him, as i look up at his sun kissed tan.
"Was what true?" He asks me, frowning down at me.
I sigh. "What he said, is that why you care? That I'm just her incarnate?" I ask him, watching him intently as he becomes tense.
He lets his hand go from beside me and waves it, the Chariot slowly starts to transform around us. I watch as it goes from a chariot to us standing on a white marble floor. white marble columns start to rise from the ground and form a greek marble temple of his.
He leads me to the steps of his temple that lead to his throne and he sits down in front of it on the floor. I follow his lead and sit down beside him as he takes my hand into his. I look up as the ceiling of the temple starts to form around us.
Golden decorations form on the floor, laurels everywhere along with swans. "I won't lie to you, Daphne." He says softly.
Making me look back down at him. "So he is right?" I ask him, looking at him as he clenches his jaw.
A guilty look takes over Apollo. "At first, it was." He tells me softly while his eyes seem to find everything more interesting than daring to look me in the eye.
I look down at my hands. "So you only care for me because i'm named after her?" I ask softly.
I didn't see what he did but the room seems to change from a white temple to a hospital room. The image is frozen and I recognise my mother laying in the bed as a female nurse is holding a baby with no one else around but my mother and the medical staff.
"Your mother didn't know she was having twins, she knew she was expecting a child with her summer lover. I think she knew who he was, as she named you after other people from Greek mythology. And as twisted as it may sound, your mother named your brother Percy after the only famous demigod who had a good ending while your namesake hadn't." He begins.
