The streets of São Paulo buzzed with life as Angelys stepped out of the café, feeling the warm Brazilian sun on her skin. It had been years since she lived here, and even though she'd only been back for four months, everything still felt so unfamiliar. The memories of Paris, of the world she'd once been a part of, seemed like they belonged to someone else now.
"Well, if it isn't the one who finally made it back home," Lando's voice broke through her thoughts, and she turned to see him leaning against a nearby streetlamp, arms crossed, a cheeky grin plastered on his face.
"Lando," she greeted with a smile, shaking her head. "Are you following me now?"
"Maybe," he teased, pushing off the lamp and walking towards her. "I've been wanting to see what Brazil has to offer. You know, besides the obvious..."
"Which is?" she raised an eyebrow.
"The amazing food, the scenery, and of course, the talent of a certain someone I know," Lando said with a wink.
Angelys laughed, the warmth of the joke lightening her mood. "Well, there's plenty of that around here. You could have just asked Franco if you needed a tour guide," she said, glancing toward Franco, who was talking animatedly with Rebecca and Carlos a few paces away.
"True," Lando said, shrugging with exaggerated nonchalance. "But I like to make my own plans."
Angelys couldn't help but smile at his antics. Lando had always been a bit of a wildcard, never taking anything too seriously, always teasing just enough to keep the atmosphere light.
She walked over to where Franco stood, feeling that familiar pull. Despite their breakup, their friendship was still something solid between them. And after everything, that meant a lot. Franco caught her eye as she approached, his gaze softening.
"Enjoying your time in Brazil?" Franco asked, his voice calm and easy.
Angelys nodded, glancing around at the lively atmosphere of the café. "Yeah, it's been nice to reconnect. I forgot how much I missed this place. It's different now though, you know?"
Franco leaned against the table, his posture relaxed. "I get that. Sometimes the place you leave behind feels like it's changed, even if you haven't. But it also gives you space to see it in a new way."
Angelys gave him a thoughtful look. "Exactly. It's like I'm learning how to live here again."
There was a brief silence between them, the weight of unspoken history hanging in the air. But it wasn't uncomfortable—just honest. They had worked hard to find their new rhythm after the breakup, learning how to share space without the tension that used to dominate their every interaction.
Meanwhile, Carlos and Rebecca were deep in conversation, with Lando standing a little off to the side, his usual mischief still evident in his posture. "I think I've found the perfect spot for us tomorrow," Carlos said, his voice full of enthusiasm. "It's a hidden gem—unreal food and the best view of the city."
