Lila moved through the shifting expanse of the void with newfound urgency, her fingers brushing against the cerulean and green shards she had tucked into the folds of her satchel. Each step felt heavier, as though the growing resonance of the Engine tugged at her very being, drawing her closer to a destiny she didn't yet understand. The fox trotted beside her, its luminous eyes scanning the ever-changing horizon.

You're silent again - she remarked, her voice breaking the oppressive quiet.

Not everything requires words - the fox replied, though its tone carried an edge of contemplation. - The void has grown restless. We are nearing something important.

Before Lila could respond, the ground beneath them shifted. The once flat and barren expanse rippled like water disturbed by a stone. Patterns began to emerge—vast, swirling spirals etched with glowing azure light that spread out in every direction. She knelt instinctively, her fingers tracing the intricate designs. They felt alive, humming faintly against her skin.

What is this? - she asked, her voice filled with awe.

The Sentinel's mark - the fox said, lowering its head to inspect the patterns. - Each Sentinel is bound to a fragment of the Engine, their presence leaving imprints in places where their power lingers.

Lila straightened, her eyes following the spirals as they stretched into the distance.

Then the next shard must be close.

The fox nodded, its gaze sharp.

Prepare yourself, Weaver. Sentinels are not mere memories; they are guardians. If this one still exists, it may not welcome you with open arms.

As they followed the glowing patterns, the void began to shift around them. Shadows thickened, coalescing into jagged forms that rose like broken glass. The air grew colder, carrying with it a low, haunting hum that seemed to emanate from the spirals themselves.

Lila gripped the hilt of her dagger, her knuckles white. She could feel the tension in the air, a heavy, suffocating presence that pressed against her chest.

Do you feel that? - she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

The Sentinel stirs - the fox said grimly. - It knows you are here.

The path ahead narrowed, the spirals converging into a single, blazing trail that led to a massive structure suspended in the void. It was a tower of jagged crystal, its surface shimmering with an otherworldly light. At its peak, a shard hovered, radiating a brilliant azure glow that pulsed in time with the hum.

Lila's breath caught in her throat. She took a step forward, but the fox blocked her path, its body tense and alert.

Wait - it said, its voice low and cautious.

A figure emerged from the base of the tower, its form shrouded in shadow. It moved with an unnatural grace, its every step resonating through the void. As it drew closer, the shadows fell away, revealing a figure cloaked in deep blue robes. Its face was obscured by a mask of gleaming silver, etched with patterns that seemed to shift and flow like liquid metal.

The figure raised its head, its eyes glowing like twin stars. When it spoke, its voice was deep and resonant, echoing with an unearthly power.

Who dares disturb the Nexus of Azure?

Lila's throat tightened, but she forced herself to step forward.

I'm Lila. I'm... a Weaver. I'm trying to restore the Engine.

The Sentinel tilted its head, studying her with an intensity that made her skin crawl.

A Weaver? - it said, its tone filled with both wonder and suspicion. - You abandoned the threads. You left us to fall into ruin. Why should I trust you now?
