Shadows brought into the stars (book 1)

a mistake on a mission

The teams were
Lucy
Sting and Lecter
Rogue and Frosche

"Let's do this!" Sting said excitedly.
"Yeah!" Lecter said.
The two were searching around a perimeter of a building full of treasure that they were guarding.
Everyone had to guard the building with lots of riches.
Lucy got one area, while Rogue and Frosche got the other.
Rogue's side was boring and he didn't have to fight anyone.
Neither did Sting but Lucy fought some robbers.

"Gate of the Bull! Tarus! " Lucy chanted,"get the Black Spells guy!"
Then Tarus appeared and immediately knocked down the robbers.
But there was one robber left!
"Solid script!" He yelled and then suddenly, Lucy's feet were trapped between rocks.
She gasped as Tarus tried to get her feet out but he couldn't get them out.
So while the two were preoccupied the robber stole the treasure.

"You failed!" The mayor yelled at Lucy, Rogue, Sting, Lecter, and Frosche.
"I take full responsibility," Lucy said weakly, slightly raising her hand.
"You call yourselves wizards?" The mayor yelled angrily, "no reward for you!"
And the mayor disappeared through big doors.
"Sorry guys..." Lucy said weakly.
"Whatever at least your my friend and I never make mistakes!" Sting said giving himself a thumbs up.
Lucy smiled and rolled her eyes.
Rogue wanted to comfort her but he was to busy glaring at the door the mayor left into.

The group talked about Sting the rest of the way back to the guild.
Except Rogue and Lucy, who walked in the back of the group, silently.
'I can't believe we failed the mission because of me...' Lucy said to herself.
'I hope Lucy doesn't blame herself,' Rogue said to himself.
And while they both thought this they both glanced at one another, without knowing it.

~time skip~

The group had already rode the train and Lucy gave both the boys motion sickness pills.
And they were passing her apartment but Lucy stopped them.
"Hey guys! I'm really exhausted so I'm just going to freshen up! So ya at the guild, later" Lucy said giving them waves and running into her apartment.
"Poor Lucy no matter what I say about myself she's still sad..." Sting said him, Rogue and the exceeds watched her rush away.
Rogue watched her emotionlessly.
But he felt just as bad as Sting did.

Meanwhile with Lucy...

"Am I really that useless?" Lucy asked herself sadly.
She went to her apartment, she changed her clothes, and is now sitting on the bench in the park.
She sobbed quietly.
"Your not useless at all," Rogue said walking out of the shadows, as usual.
"Huh?!" Lucy said startled, "oh... it's you, Rogue."
She quickly whiped away any tears, "where's the others?"
Rogue sighed loudly and took a seat next to her, "Sting is drunk, Lecter is making it worst, and Frosche is with Mira."
"Oh... I'm sorry for... losing the money," Lucy said looking down.
Rogue then leaned closer towards her and lifted her head up with his index finger.
And he pressed his lips to hers.
Using his free hand he wiped away a tear.
It was at first a soft kiss but turned passionate.
When the two pulled away it was for air.
"Lucy..." Rogue said smiling, out of breathe from the kiss.
"Rogue?" Lucy asked.
"I love you," he said going in for another kiss.
While they kissed Lucy couldn't help but think, 'I should make mistakes more often.'
