Antonio sang aloud as he swam through the coral hoops below the mermaids kingdoms as he traveled down to his seaweed bunker, a little cave covered in mossy green seaweed accompanied by a pack of sea turtles. As he swam down he saw one turtle had fallen asleep in his bed and picked him up gently. "Santiago, do you mind not falling asleep in my bed por favor amigo" he chuckled slightly before resting the turtle next to his bed.

As he swatted around looking for his kelp braids he found a charm. Once of the braclets a human would wear. It was silver and was supposed to go around your neck but he wrapped it around his wrist. Why? So he could see a beautiful face everyday, and everywhere he went.

On the end of the necklace there was a locket where a picture of a young girl was. Probably around the age of five. She had beautiful (h/l) (h/c) hair that complimented her (e/c) eyes. She also had cute (f/c) braces to match her top. But that was all you could see on the picture. Only he had seen her fully. He was only 6 at the time when he had caught his fiery red and yellow tail on a hook and couldnt get it out. Only until when (y/n) saw and helped him did he ever interact with a human. They had chatted and became good friends. It was only till her father came out and banned her from seeing him and called him a monster.

Ever since that day Antonio had also gone to the banned area of the sea called the surface to find his long gone best friend. He was now 18 and still had a red tail. Only now it had yellow streaks with orangle and black tones here and there. Even some green where his fins started and ombréd into blue. He was very attractive with his tanned toned chest and brunette hair. After resting for a bit he swam to the surface and heard crying. He saw a girl around his age and swam to her, but before he could identfify her she was pushed into the sea screaming. The person who pushed her Laughed and ran away.

Antonio swam as fast as he could to her, as she gasped for air, slowly sinking down and down into the dark depths of the sea. He managed to grab her but couldnt pull her. He looked for the problem only to see to red eyes glowing at him. 'Shark' he thought and hit it with his tail. The shark let go and bit his arm then swam off. He yelped and swam the surface (y/n) in his arms.

Once he reached the beach he flopped her into the sand. Expecting her to breath he waited. And waited. And waited. No movement. He leaned closer to her to check her heartbeat. Nothing. 'Oh mio dos no, please no oh god' he thought as he pushed her chest harshly over and over to help her regain her heartbeat. It was hard to balance on his tail because his arms were occupied but he still did it. Finally he felt a small heart beat but it was so small it was hard to feel. He sighhed in relief but carried on until he bent down. 'Maybe this will help?' He thought as he opened her non breathing mouth (you breathed out of your nose because well you'll find out now) and gasped before breathing down your throat, his lips locking with yours. He repeated it until you rose up and gagged out water. Lots of water.

You chocked a bit before breathing normally. You turned to him and smiled "thank you thank you for saving me" you said desperately trying to breath. He stopped. 'That voice-' "(y/n)?" He asked. You looked at him and his tail and smiled "A-Antonio?! Wow its really you?!" You laughed and hugged him as he wrapped his arms around you. "Chica ive missed you so much" he sniffled into your hair as he wept a bit. "No no! Dont cry im here now" you said as you stroked his surprisingly dry hair. He stopped and looked at you before looking away. "LOOK OUT!" He shouted before a gunshot was heard.

You looked up to see a tail covered above you. Red. "Antonio?" You moved the tail to only find a red liquid smudged on your hands. "no... NO! ANTONIO!" You screamed as you saw his eyes open and lifeless. He lay there motionless. You looked behind only to see your father angry as hell stomping towards you. You were so angry you got your pistol out of your back pocket, that was saved for emergencies and pointed it towards him. "Dont you dare come any closer" you said darkly. He stopped and looked at you. "(Nickname) put the gun down-" "NO! You heard me, stop"

He stopped "now what princess what ya gonna do?" He said feeling slightly guilty but still stood tall. "Go home. I wont return until i know hes safe-" "but hes dead" you paused. "Then ill never return" you pointed the gun to your head but fell over from the impact of something- or someone?. "Dont do it chica, im ok" antonio croaked out, desperately trying to save you again. You smiled widely and hugged him gently "i promise to never leave alone, ok? I will go home every day and i will leave every morning to see you" you said into his shoulder. He smiled and hugged you close "of course and i will wait here for you" he smiled and pulled away.

Your father watched you turn from angry to sad to happy in a mer few seconds all because of this one merman. "(Y-n)-" "no dad-" "no you listen to me. I will agree to this on one condition." He said firmly pointing his finger to sign 'one'. "Anything mister (l/n) anything you wish" antonio said smiling. Your father smiled and crouched down to ruffle his hair "you keep my daughter safe from the sharks okay? And no rough housing either. I know she acts like a tough cookie, but shes soft dough on the inside. Respect and dont ever hurt. If you do next time i will shot your heart, so you can feel her pain." He said coldly to him. Antonio blushed a bit from the interaction but but on a straight face "yes. Anything for her"

Your father got up and turned away. "Good, also i expect you for dinner tonight". "But daddy, he lives in the sea he can only live for so long out of it." You said confused. Your father laughed "if he cant make it to dinner, dinner makes it to him." He said as he pointed to his boat beside the harbour. "He can dine with us by the boat okay?" Antonio grinned widly "it would be an honor, any food you would like?" He said like a waiter. You smiled and looked from him to your dad. "Salmon or cod sounds good, and maybe lobster. Wait... Whats that?"

You and your father looked behind antonio to see a mother turtle and lots of babies following her to antonio. "¿que?" He said as he turned around to see the babies climbing on his tail. The mother nudged you and climber onto you and closed her eyes. "You laughed and stroked her head and shell. "Hehe i think she likes you!" Antonio said with a smile. "Were like a family you see. Shes been waiting for me to do get a girlfriend that she approves of ah-" he said as one turtle climbed onto the whole in his tail, getting blood on his feet- fins? Yeah fins. Antonio wiped him off before gasping out "(y/n) could you possibly aha bring me to the aha sea" he said hoarsely as his gills were dried out. You got up, after putting mama turtle down and picked up antonio bridal style and walked out to sea.

Once you were waist deep you looked down to him, your noses touching. "Is this deep enough?" He blushed and nodded before you gently placed him in the water.mhe was surprisingly light for a fish/man his length or height i dont know.he swam off before calling "ill catch the fish see you in a min!" He ducked under the water and swam away. You turned to see your father gone and the turtles retreating to you. Before you left one turtle came up to you onto your foot. He had a chain round his neck. You pulled him up and looked at him. He was adorable. 'Hmm' you thought. The chain read 'santiago'. You laughed "what a cute name " before putting him back. 'See you soon Antonio'
You thought as you walked back up the beach up land to your cosy warm house. You opened the door to change out of your wet and soggy clothes.

After you got changed layed on your (f/c) bed and snuggled in some warm blankets and whispered."today..." Before smiling like an idiot to the thought of Antonios face.
