Isabela left the lawn still feeling unsettled by the heated argument.

Barron's words echoed in her head, like a mantra she couldn't shake. "Life isn't negotiable for me." That phrase, spoken with so much conviction, felt like an immovable wall—something he'd never be willing to reconsider. As she walked toward the library, she couldn't decide if she was more annoyed at Barron or at herself for spending so much time on a debate that seemed endless.

She spent the next few hours surrounded by books, trying to distract herself. But even buried in readings for her political science class, her mind kept drifting back to the conversation on the lawn. That exchange had made it clear: while she admired Barron's intelligence and eloquence, he could also be absurdly stubborn.

Across campus, Barron was in his dorm, staring at his phone. He gripped it tightly, as if that might help him find an answer to the unease he felt. The argument with Isabela wouldn't leave his mind. Why was she so convinced he was wrong? He'd always believed his arguments were rock solid, but there was something about Isabela's passion that threw him off balance.

Then a notification caught his eye. The headline blared in bold letters: "Excerpt from Melania Trump's Memoir Leaks, Sparks Controversy." Heart racing, Barron clicked the link. The article explained that, in the leaked chapter, his mother made a surprising statement: she supported the legalization of abortion in certain cases, especially when a woman's physical or mental health was at risk.

Barron reread the excerpt several times, trying to process what he was seeing. How was this possible? He'd grown up hearing his mother express conservative values. Had she always thought this way and never had the courage to admit it? Or had she changed her mind over time?

He tossed the phone onto his bed and stood up, pacing the small room. It felt like a betrayal.

Two days later, Isabela was leaving class when she spotted Barron across campus.

He looked distracted, walking toward the dining hall with his hands in his pockets and his gaze fixed on the ground. Despite still being annoyed about their last conversation, something inside her pushed her to approach him.

"Barron!" she called, walking toward him.

He looked up, surprised. "Hey, Isabela."

"You okay? You look kinda... off."

Barron hesitated before answering, then shrugged. "Just got a lot on my mind."

Isabela crossed her arms, tilting her head. "Let me guess. Still stuck on our argument?"

He sighed. "Maybe. But there's more to it than that."

She frowned, noticing the sincerity in his tone. "Wanna talk about it? We could grab some coffee."

Barron hesitated for a moment but eventually nodded. "Why not?"

They headed to a nearby coffee shop and picked a corner table where they wouldn't be interrupted. After ordering their drinks, Isabela leaned forward, resting her elbows on the table.

"So, what's going on?"

Barron stared at the coffee in front of him, as if searching for the right words. "Did you see what leaked about my mom?"

Isabela blinked, surprised. "I saw something on Twitter, but I didn't read the details."

"She wrote in her book that she supports abortion in certain cases," he said quietly.

Isabela's eyes widened. "Wow. That must've been... a lot to take in."

"To say the least," he replied, letting out a humorless laugh. "I grew up thinking she shared the same views as my dad. Finding this out now, out of nowhere, is... weird."
