It was still sleepy-dark in the room when I felt the softest touch on my cheek and heard Mama's voice.

"Good morning, my sweet baby girl," she whispered. Her voice was all warm and nice like my favorite blankie.

I scrunched up my nose and hid my face deeper under the covers. I didn't wanna wake up yet. My eyes felt so heavy, and my pillow was so soft. But Mama giggled, and then I felt her hands scoop me up.

"No hiding, little one," Mama cooed. She pulled me into her lap, cradling me close. "It's time to wake up, baby. Mama needs her sleepyhead to get ready."

I made a little whine and snuggled into her chest. My body felt all floppy like a sleepy ragdoll, but Mama didn't mind. She rocked me back and forth, humming a sweet tune that made my heart feel all cozy. Her hands rubbed my back, making warm circles, and I felt her lips kiss my head.

"Mm-mm," I mumbled, half-asleep. "Still tired, Mama."

"I know, baby girl. But guess what?" she said softly, her voice full of secrets and smiles.

My eyes blinked open a little, curious. "What?" I whispered.

"It's raining outside today," Mama told me, stroking my hair. "You love the rain, don't you, sweet pea?"

Rain? My sleepy heart woke up fast. "Rain?" I sat up, my eyes going wide and sparkly. "Really, Mama? Raining, raining?!"

Mama laughed and nodded. "Yes, my silly goose. It's raining. You can splash and play in puddles with Mama. But first, we have to get you all ready."

I wriggled happily in her arms, clapping my hands. "Yay! Rain! I wanna go now!"

"Not yet, little one." Mama smiled and lifted me off her lap, laying me gently on the bed. "First, let's take care of your pull-up, okay?"

I wiggled my toes and peeked up at her. Mama's hands were so soft and careful as she pulled down my pajama bottoms. She always made me feel safe and warm when she took care of me. I held onto her hand as she changed me, making sure everything was snug and dry.

"There we go, fresh as a daisy," Mama cooed, booping my nose with her finger. I giggled and kicked my feet.

Next, Mama grabbed my clothes from the chair. "Look, baby. You get to wear your special rainy-day outfit."

I sat up a little straighter, my excitement bubbling over. "Duckie hat?"

Mama grinned. "Of course, duckie hat. And your overalls, your cozy onesie, and your warm tights. We need to keep my precious girl nice and toasty."

She slid the soft onesie over my head and tugged it down, fastening the snaps. It felt so snug and comfy! Then she helped me into my thick, woolly tights, pulling them gently up my legs. They felt all warm and squishy on my skin. Next came my favorite overalls—the ones with little yellow duckies on the front pockets.

"Step in, princess," Mama guided as she held the overalls open.

I stepped in, and she pulled them up, fastening the straps with a little click. "Perfect," she said, smoothing out the fabric. "Now..." She reached over to pick up my yellow duckie hat and placed it snug on my head. "Ta-da! There's my little rain explorer."

I bounced on my feet, feeling so special. "Mama, Mama! Duckie boots too!"

Mama smiled as she took my hand. "We'll put those on at the door, sweetheart. We don't want to track mud inside."

Holding hands, we walked to the door together, my feet padding softly on the floor. Mama grabbed my duckie boots and helped me slide my feet into them one by one. She made silly quacking sounds as she did, making me giggle and squeal.

"Quack, quack! Ready for puddles, little duckling?" Mama teased, tapping my nose.

"Yes, Mama! Ready, ready!" I cheered, bouncing up and down.

She held my hands to steady me. "Slow down, baby girl. Mama's got you." She bent down, looking into my eyes. "Are you ready to play in the rain with Mama?"

I beamed, my heart feeling as big as the sky. "Yes, Mama! Let's go!"

And with my hand tucked safely in hers, we opened the door and stepped into our rainy-day adventure, together.
