"They did it!" Threepio's tinny voice called out through the forest, cheers arising around his exclamation as the Second Death Star exploded in the sky.
Han Solo felt something close to panic constrict his breathing as he looked at the ashes and dust of what remained of the battle station.
Luke...
The kid couldn't have possibly of still been on it right? He would have gotten out. He was Luke Skywalker for crying out loud! Destroyer of the Death Star, the last Jedi, the Hero of the Rebellion, and Rogue Squad Leader!
Out of all the times Han had almost lost the kid, because of the boy being reckless and naïve, this one was the most terrifying.
Please be alright...
He barely noticed the princess beside him, looking up at the sky with an equal amount of concern as he was.
When he finally looked down, he knew he should reassure her even if the worry was threatening to overcome him.
"I'm sure Luke wasn't on that thing when it blew." He said.
Leia was silent for a moment, still looking at the sky. Han let her think, knowing she probably thought he was lying to make her feel better. What she said next was not what he expected.
"He wasn't. I can feel it." She whispered.
Han blinked. She wasn't...could she feel the so-called Force that Luke was always jabbering about? Even though the Corellian had to admit when the boy spoke about the "magic" he possessed, Han found it slightly adorable.
Then an even more concerning thought crossed Han's mind and he frowned. He had never openly confessed his attraction to Luke in fear that he'd be rejected, so he had flirted a lot with Leia to make him jealous. Which pissed Leia off. He knew he shouldn't have played with her emotions like that. When he had apologized however, the princess had admitted to him she had feelings for another, making Han feel all the more guilty about flirting with her.
But he wasn't stupid. He saw the chemistry between Luke and Leia and he figured this 'other' she had feelings for was Luke. And if anything, he wanted his friends to be happy. "You love him don't you?" He asked.
Leia gave him a puzzled look as if the answer was supposed to be obvious. "Yes."
"All right. I understand. Fine. When he comes back, I won't get in the way." Han said slowly, feeling sadness creep into his heart.
Leia blinked at him then chuckled. Han glared at her as if she was mocking him.
"Oh. No, it's not like that at all..." She paused, still smiling at him. "He's my brother."
Han froze.
Brother!?
Elation replaced melancholy and Han jumped up. "And you're sure he's alright!?"
Leia blinked at his sudden happiness and then chuckled. "Yes, I can feel him."
And without thinking, Han darted off into the forest.
"Han! Where are you going?" She cried, her voice growing fainter as Han sprinted.
He arrived just in time to see a shuttle land and a familiar tuft of blonde hair and black clothes walk out of the ship. Luke was barely down the ramp before Han tackled him in a hug.
Luke exclaimed loudly in surprise, startled, and with not enough time to see, let alone defend against, his attacker.
When Han pulled back, he saw Luke's eyes widen. Then he noticed they were red-rimmed, tears still fresh in the corners of the bright baby blue irises.
"Luke? What's wrong?" Han asked, concerned.
Luke blinked and then chuckled lightly, wiping his eyes. "Nothing, it's just...I was so scared for you and Leia...and I almost died...and Vader-"
"What did that good-for-nothing machine do to you!?" Han cried, looking angry and inspecting Luke for injuries. He saw burn marks tattering Luke's clothes and scowled. "What happened, Luke?"
Luke sighed. "The Emperor electrocuted me and...Vader saved my life."
Han was silent. "He what?" He asked, surprisingly calm.
Luke looked fearful for a moment and then cleared his throat. "Han...there's something you should know."
Han grabbed the young Jedi firmly by the shoulders. "Luke...you can tell me anything. What is it?"
There was an almost too long pause before Luke finally spoke. "Vader saved me because..." A tight swallow. "...he's my father."
Luke waited for the blow, the exclamation of how much Han hated him and how he would kill him where he stood, abandon him in the forest, turn him in to the Rebellion for treason and have him executed...something along those lines.
What the boy did not expect was to be pulled forward and for his lips to be furiously pressed against Han's. At first he was shocked, trying to pull back, before he realized how much he had really missed Han more than anything. He remembered the overwhelming panic that had come over him when the Emperor had told him that his friends would die on the moon of Endor...yes...he had missed Han a lot.
But all his problems simply drifted away as he melted into Han's embrace, the Corellian's hands running through his blonde locks with nothing but love and happiness.
Luke gasped as they broke and then they immediately pressed back again. He wrapped his arms around Han's waist, gripping his long jacket desperately.
Han hummed in pleasure and continued to kiss the battered boy slowly and contently.
When they finally ended, they were both smiling, relieved to be alive.
Luke ran a hand through his fuzzy hair as he stared into Han's beautiful hazel eyes, looking at him with utmost love.
"I don't care about your heritage, Luke. You're still you. And I love you." Han said.
Luke fought the urge to smirk. "I know."
Their second kiss was even better than the first one.
