Time passed in the blink of an eye, and finally, the day they had been eagerly and impatiently waiting for had arrived-their engagement day."But bhai, why this marriage hall? Why not our home?" Ruhaan asked as they walked inside the beautifully decorated hall.
"Because it's closest to Dashashwamedh Ghat. We're performing the Ceremonial Blessing of the Engagement Rings there first. Maa said there's some pooja as well, and then we'll come back here to exchange the rings," Nirvaan explained calmly to Ruhaan, his tone full of excitement.
The whole family had traveled back to Varanasi together, staying in the same palace for the engagement instead of in their respective homes.
"Nirvaan, what are you doing standing there? Get ready! We'll be late for the ghat ceremony!" Maansi scolded, and he pouted, nodding in agreement.
"Ruhi, hurry up!" she added, her voice a mix of playfulness and impatience.
They rushed upstairs to their respective rooms. Vaani's family was staying in the left corridor, while Nirvaan's family was on the right.
Nirvaan peeked from his balcony, hoping to catch a glimpse of her, but she was nowhere in sight. He sighed, murmuring to himself, "Aur kitna tadpaogi, devi? Ek jhalak to de do, subah se nahi dekha hai." His voice was filled with a mixture of longing and affection as he leaned against the pillar, before sighing again and heading back to his room.
After a few hours of packing and managing things, Shrishti, Suryansh, Avyansh, and their grandparents finally made their way downstairs, where the decorations for the engagement were nearly complete. Vaani, busy with the final touches, informed the helpers about the bags they were taking to the ghat. The helpers quickly took the bags downstairs to load them into the car.
Meanwhile, Nirvaan walked outside his room, dressed in a white dhoti and a gamchha draped over his shoulder, the fabric elegantly covering his chest. His bags were already placed in the car, but he stood by the railing, gazing downstairs. Not finding her among the crowd, he guessed she might still be in her room. Silently, with a heart full of anticipation, he walked towards her room, eager to see her, to feel the magic of the moment they had both been waiting for.
As Nirvaan stepped closer to her room, a smile tugging at his lips. He could already feel the excitement in the air, the weight of the day pressing down on him, and the love that seemed to wrap around them like a soft breeze. This was the beginning of forever.
