Yejin sat cross-legged on the bleachers in the university basketball court, her tote bag slung over her shoulder. She had come to watch Mark and Chenle play a quick game during their break, but her sour mood overshadowed the entertainment.
Mark dribbled the ball effortlessly, glancing over at Yejin, who sat pouting like a child. "Yejin, you've been whining non-stop since we got here" he said, smirking as he tossed the ball toward the hoop, scoring effortlessly.
"You don't get it, Mark!" she huffed, crossing her arms. "Why did the professor pair me with him? Of all people, Donghyuck! I'd rather do the project alone."
Chenle, leaning against the wall near the hoop, burst into laughter. "I mean, it's kinda hilarious. The two of you together? This is going to be legendary."
"It's not funny!" Yejin shot him a glare. "That idiot doesn't take anything seriously. He's probably going to make me do all the work while he just sits there annoying me."
Mark jogged over to the bleachers, wiping the sweat from his forehead with the hem of his shirt. He chuckled softly as he looked down at her. "You're so cute when you're mad" he teased, ruffling her hair.
"Don't patronize me, Mark Lee" she grumbled, swatting his hand away.
Chenle jogged up next to him, spinning the basketball in his hands. "Hey, maybe this will be good for you two. You might actually learn how to work together without tearing each other apart."
Yejin rolled her eyes so hard she thought they might get stuck. "Yeah, sure. And pigs might fly."
Mark leaned forward, resting his hands on his knees so he was eye-level with her. "Look, I know Donghyuck can be... a lot. But he's not as bad as you think. You just have to survive three days with him. Think you can manage that?"
She let out a long sigh, resting her chin on her hand. "I guess I don't have a choice. But if he even tries to slack off, I'm throwing him out of my house."
Chenle laughed again, dribbling the ball. "Can't wait to hear the drama from this one."
Later That Day
After a frustrating afternoon class where Donghyuck had spent most of the lecture whispering dumb jokes to her, Yejin dragged herself home, ready to rant to her mother about her awful luck.
As she flopped onto the couch, her phone buzzed with a text.
Idiot🙄
When should I come over for this dumb project? Don't make me wait all night, devil.
be here by 6. Don't be late.
Whatever you say, boss.
She rolled her eyes so hard she thought she might sprain them.
The Project Session
At exactly 6:05 PM, the doorbell rang. Yejin opened it to find Donghyuck leaning casually against the frame, a lazy smirk on his face.
"Five minutes late" she muttered, stepping aside to let him in.
"You're lucky I showed up at all" he quipped, tossing his bag onto the floor.
"Hyung!" Hajoon exclaimed as he ran into the room. "You're here! Did you bring me snacks?"
Donghyuck grinned and ruffled Hajoon's hair. "Not today, little man. Your noona dragged me here to work on some boring project."
Hajoon pouted but quickly brightened up when Donghyuck pulled a small candy bar from his pocket. "Fine, you're forgiven" Hajoon declared before running back to his toys.
