By her second week as an intern at FC Barcelona, Summer was already settling into a routine. Mornings were spent assisting with media schedules, afternoons reviewing footage for marketing, and evenings—when she wasn't too tired—meeting up with her friends.Today, the group had planned a dinner out to celebrate her surviving her first two weeks. Summer arrived at the restaurant to find the usual chaos: Gavi teasing Marc about his latest failed pickup line, Eva trying to pull Fermin into a TikTok, and Ana attempting to mediate.
"Here she is!" Eva called as Summer approached.
"Our little intern!" Marc added, standing to give her an exaggerated bow.
"Please don't call me that," Summer said, rolling her eyes as she took her seat between Hector and Ana.
"We're just proud of you," Ana said, patting her arm. "Carlos must be thrilled you're finally working in sports."
"He's thrilled that I'm 'finally doing something worthwhile,'" Summer said, mimicking her brother's voice.
The group laughed, but Hector leaned in closer. "Seriously, though, how's it going?"
Summer shrugged, but her smile betrayed her pride. "It's great. Busy, but great. I think I'm finally finding my rhythm."
"You've been killing it," Hector said, his voice low enough that only she could hear.
She glanced at him, her cheeks warming. "Thanks."
Dinner was loud and lively, the group's usual banter filling the restaurant.
"Gavi, you couldn't survive a day doing Summer's job," Pau said, shaking his head.
"Excuse me," Gavi replied, indignant. "I could charm anyone into doing what I need. I'd be amazing at PR."
"You'd be fired in an hour," Marc countered. "You'd say something stupid in front of the press."
"Like you're so smooth?" Gavi shot back.
