The ringing of the alarm grew loud in Kellin's ears. Her pale hand made way out from the fluffy comforter and up to the alarm clock. On the top, the snooze button was pressed down by her hand. Short black finger nails slid down onto the wooden brown nightstand beside her bed. Laying there a few minutes, Kellin's eyes opened slightly, wondering why her eye lashes kept everything else out of her eyes but the sun. Brows furrowing, she moved her legs out from under the blanket, and off the edge of the bed. She stood, tuning her head to the nightstand. Leaning to the stand, her arm raised up and out to her phone. Clicking the home button, Noel's name was bright on the lock screen. A message from her best friend read,
"Are you up? Better not be late again, Mrs. Ket will kill you."
Kellin looked over to her bed, her bag still sitting where it was last placed. She carried through her morning routine, then slipping her converse on with about two minutes left to get out to the bus stop. Grabbing her bag, she stood from the bed. Throwing the bag behind her, strap over her shoulder.
Justin waved as Kellin turned from closing the door, a sigh and an annoyed face lead up to Kellin. She ignored it and waited to cross the road, until the bus was close enough to cross and get on with good timing so no conversation could begin. Justin was in a way, a jock. But also a childhood friend. He was just a little less of a jerk to Kellin, then he was to everyone else. The ride to school was about twenty minutes long, but not long enough. Kellin loved car rides. Well I guess this isn't a car, but I think it still counts. Kellin sat in an empty seat, there was usually one near the middle of the bus. She sat, earbuds in, enjoying the ride and music. As much as she could anyways.
Feet stepping down from the bus, Kellin began to walk towards the door.
Hell.
Making her way to her locker, the bell wouldn't ring for another few minutes.
Click.
The green, metal door opened and squeaked. She put her bag in the locker, taking out her books. Pictures of Noel, her mom, and her cat were magnetized to the inside of the locker door. The rest of the inside had her photography through it. Other than pictures, her locker remained empty besides her bag. She closed the door, turning away from it, she began walking to her first period class.
Kellin was making it through the average day so far. The bell rang, 6th period just ended. She picked up her books and got up from the desk. Making her way out into the hall and to the restroom. The pattern on the wall changed on the inside of the opening to the bathroom. Beige, pink color tiles covered the walls on the inside. Kellin walked over to the sinks. She didn't want to look as stupid as she felt in Mrs. Ket's class. It was actually not a bad subject for Kellin. Writing was fun, she loved it actually. Just not the teacher and other classmates part. Noel wasn't in many, if any classes with her, just gym and home room.
Kellin looked at herself in the mirror. Her pale skin and dark brown hair. It was long, and layered. It was kind of a scene hairstyle, with purple in her fringe. She wore a black band tee, as usual. And a gray jacket over that. Black skinny jeans, and a car buckle belt that had Pokemon on it around her waist. Her hand moved up to her chest, right under her collar bones, she grabbed a heart shaped locket. Inside there was a picture of her and her mom.
"Thinking makeup will fix your face?" A voice from the doorway to the right of her said. Kellin closed her eyes and stood there.
"I don't think that would help." Another voice came from the same direction. Footsteps came up to Kellin, as she turned to see Makayla. Two grades above her, light brown hair, and practically a nobody. And her bestie, Kayla. One grade above Kellin, and just slightly more of a somebody.
"The sad puppy doesn't talk?"
The words come from Kayla, and it's not the type of question you answer."That's upsetting, I wanted to talk to my good friend Kellin."
Makayla followed. "Your dorky friend, tell her to stop giving me dirty looks."She was talking about Noel. Noel was always the kind of person to do little smart-ass things like that to piss certain people off.
"Maybe if you weren't a bitch, you wouldn't get dirty looks from people." The words flew from Kellin's mouth. Her eyes widened slightly, wishing she hadn't said that. The area was quiet, until the first bell rang, and Kayla and Makayla walked past, Kayla pushing Kellin into the wall.
"Whoops." Kayla said, bringing her hand up to her mouth, and sarcastically playing the accident card. Kellin picked her books up and stood, starting to make her way, turning down the hall.
