It's been already a month and a half into this job, and I feel like I've gotten the hang of it. I still got so much to learn but I feel like I'm keeping up. Obito and I have kept our distance, I think he really takes his job seriously. And I do too. So it was best if we put the past behind us. If he needs me to do something, he would reach out to me. I would mostly be there to remind him of his meetings and appointments.
The clock turned 12pm and I headed my way downstairs. It was the time of the week where Itachi and I had our weekly lunch. If he had time it be twice a week. We've been doing ramen the last few weeks but this time we wanted something light. So we went to make our own salads at this little market down the street. And went to eat the salads at the park.
"You're quiet today." Itachi said placing his empty bowl in the trash bin beside our bench. He grabbed mine and dumped it too.
I sipped on my pressed juice and looked over at him. "I know. Just been having work on my mind."
Itachi stretched his arm over my shoulder which I didn't mind since he always does that. "What about work?"
"Ummmm nothing particular." I said. "Just getting use to things."
"I see." He said tapping his finger on his chin. "How's working with Obito? I haven't seen him in a while."
"Oh, good. He's a pretty serious guy." I looked over at the kids in the play ground. "When he's working."
Itachi kept his eye on me, "Do you like him?"
I jerked up and looked at him, "Do I what?"
"Do you like him?" He smirked tilting his head. "As your boss?"
Ooooooh, thank god I asked him what he meant because I almost turned red. "Oh, yeah. Yeah, he's cool."
I brushed my hair behind my ear.
"You look good in this profession you know." Itachi said seriously not making eye contact. "I feel like you would make a good business woman."
"Haha, I wish. A former stripper to a future business woman. I haven't even continued my next semester of classes." I leaned in his chest. Sighing as I dose off to the clouds.
I felt his hand lift up my chin gently, my eyes meeting his gaze. "What have I told you about this negative self talk?" I froze. "I've told you, you're smart, competent and reliable. You have many skills Aya. You're past is you're past." He let my chin go. But his eyes stayed on my lips awhile before looking away.
"Sorry." I said looking down at my hands.
"Don't be sorry." Itachi stood up. "You have nothing to be sorry for." He reach out his hand to help me up. I accepted. "That lip color looks really good on you by the way."
"Thank you!" I said flipping my hair feeling confident. "I bought it when I got this matching set."
"Yes," Itachi looked me head to toe. "It's really nice. You look good in skirts. And you look good in heels." He smirked biting his lips.
I shoved him, which only made him chuckle. I'm not surprised that Itachi was flirting. He would do it here and there. He hasn't done it in a long time since he was dating Izumi before. But the last few weeks, Itachi would be bold and throw comments here and there. "Just cause we're close friends you think you can get comfortable?"
He did a devilish grin. "Aya it's not my fault you look like a five course meal every time I see you."
I don't know what happened. But when Itachi stared at me right now, my chest felt tight. Almost like I couldn't breathe. Itachi is one of the guys I know who has smooth looking skin. A sharp cut jaw and muscular tall lean body. His suits always fitted. He looked like a basketball player in a suit.
