For some odd reason, I was hugging Arden Jacobs. The leading player for Mount Xavier High school and also, he does really well in football too.
And there was my lame attempt at a joke or whatever. Haha, it was funny. Eh? Okay, maybe not.
My phone starting buzzing in my butt pocket, which caused me to blush and slowly pull away from Arden to check it. He smiled.
I had 19 texts, mostly from Natalie and Mum asking where the hell I was and about Harper. I don't know. So i wen't back and gripped Arden back into an embrace.
Rowan was awkwardly standing there looking down at his feet. "So, Sawyer. I'm gonna let Arden drop you off at home. Okay? My mum needs me."
He's gonna leave me with a stranger? Well Arden's not totally a stranger, but you know what i meant.
Arden glanced down at me. "Yes, Rowan. I will drop her off at home or wherever." Before Rowan left, he looked at me to reassure i was okay with this. I nodded.
Once Rowan left, Arden finally spoke again. " I'm so sorry this happened to you. No one deserves this."
That made me suddenly burst out into hysterical crying and speaking my gibberish ways again.
Arden pulled me back in his embrace and was rocking me back and forth.
I couldn't help it, he felt safe. His strong scent of cologne made me hold him tighter and his broad shoulders caressed the small of my back.
"H-how how" was all i can make out clearly. He kissed the top of my head. " Sweet girl, i don't know how any of this happened. Harper was a lovely person. And he loved you. These things can't be explained. I'll talk to Carter when he wakes up and i'll see."
Sweet girl? For some reason that made my stomach twist into knots. I nodded slowly, " Arden i don't i don't wanna.. I don't wanna go home. I can't see my mum liike this.."
He smiled, " I know you don't know me. But you are free to stay with me and my mum."
"That's probably the best option, thank you. I appreciate it."
