The first thing that popped into my mind: Oh snap.
I looked at Reiner, then at Marco and finally at Jean.
Reiner was trying to get up but he had trouble due to the glass and metal on the ground, which from here, looked like it was digging into his hands, making them bleed. He grunted and finally got up. The blonde's arms were covered in cuts and there was even a bruise that was starting to form. He had little shards of glass in his hands, making them drip with blood.
Jean was gaping at Marco. He stepped forward a bit and pointed at Reiner." Marco. What the actual fuck are you doing? What the hell happened?"
From my point of view, it seemed as if Jean was too angry to even yell. Or perhaps he was too scared...
Marco slowly turned to gaze at Jean (which looked fucking creepy, by the way) and blinked, tilting his head a little. He didn't say anything at all. He just smiled, which didn't even look close to his usual kind and gentle smile.
I watched as Jean's brow furrowed as he stared at his adopted, freckled brother." Why the hell are you smiling!?"
Reiner limped over to him, cautiously glancing over at Marco. He put a hand on Jean's shoulder for support. He leaned over and whispered something in my boyfriend's ear. Jean then nodded, turning his head to look at me." Can you go help Reiner out? I'll deal with this... mess..."
He sounded unsure. I walked over to him and took another look at Marco. There was no way to read his expression, though it looked damn creepy to me. I kissed Jean's cheek, took another glance at the dark brunette, then helped Reiner to the bathroom to get out the glass that was embedded in his hands.
After closing the bathroom door, I looked over at Reiner, who was sitting on the edge of the bathtub.
"What happened," I asked slowly.
Reiner just shook his head, standing up to wash his hands. The affects of the alcohol must've been wearing off." It was all a blur, really. All I can remember is having a conversation with Marco. Next thing I knew, I was on the ground, surrounded by glass. I dunno... he must've threw me or something. I don't even remember what we were talking about..."
I shrugged, pressing my ear to the door. It was oddly silent out there. Eerily silent.
I rummaged through the cabnet under the sink and brought out the first-aid kit. It wasn't long before I was done helping Reiner. We both slowly walked out of the bathroom and crept down the hall to the kitchen.
Peering in, we both saw that the glass and metal from the table was gone. Jean and Marco were both glaring at each other. This time, Marco wasn't smiling. In fact, this was the first time I've ever seen the boy scowl. Jean was as well, not breaking eye contact.
"Dude," Reiner whispered." It's like they're having a really intense staring contest."
I gave him a look and rolled my eyes. Jean didn't say anything and neither did Marco.
Suddenly, Jean ran a hand through his hair and broke the contact, looking out the window. He shook his head and shifted slightly. That's when I noticed he was holding Marco's phone. He typed something and passed the phone to the other male.
"Are they... talking to each other using... that notepad app?"
Reiner nodded slowly at my question." Seems like it."
That's when it hit me. I remembered how Jean looked distant yesterday. There was something on his mind and it was something serious. I remembered how he said something about how it had to do with Marco...
