Not Strong Enough ( L x Light Song Fic )

Chapter One

(( A/N: Hi! So I'm still pretty new to writing fanfics. Hopefully this will be a good story. I don't own any of the artwork that I put in this story, as well as the song and the anime. They all belong to their rightful owners. The words that are bold and underlined are the lyrics. Thanks and have fun reading! ))

I'm not strong enough to stay away,

L was working on his computer, putting in new information for the Kira case, while the others in the task force discussed about it. Light was listening to them while sitting at his own computer, drinking tea. While L was working, he peeks at Light and starts blushing again. This has been going on for awhile, and L was afraid of what it might be. He tries to stop himself from looking, but it became really difficult. {Stop looking at him,} L thought, {he's a suspect. You can't fall in love with him.} He tries to continue his work. Soon the task force was allowed to go home for the night. "Good work today everyone." L said. "I know we didn't really find too much information today, but we're getting there."

"Yes, we're getting one step closer!" Matsuda said. "You did a great job today, as always, Ryuzaki."

L smiles a little. "Thank you, Matsuda."

Like a moth I'm drawn into your flame

Everyone leaves, except for Light and his father. While Mr. Yagami discusses something with L, Light still sits at his computer, thinking. {L has been staring at me a lot today. Maybe he's figured out something? I should be more careful so I don't seem more suspicious.} Light looks over at L. He looks at his beautiful raven hair, and his mysterious dark eyes. Light's heart starts beating a little bit faster. He realizes he's been staring for too long. {What are you doing, Light? Stop looking at him!}

"Alright, I understand," Mr. Yagami said to L, "thanks again Ryuzaki. Have a good night." He looks over at Light. "You too, Light. I'll see you tomorrow."

"Goodnight dad." Light said.
"Goodnight Mr. Yagami." L said.

L and Light were still chained together, so Light had to sleep in the same bed as him. Both of them also had to use the same shower, but of course took turns using it. They both sat down on the couch and ate dinner, well, Light did. L had cake, as usual. L was not normally into alcohol, but he felt like trying a certain drink.

"Watari, could I please have a drink?" L asked
"Of course," Watari said, "what would you like?"
"How about some whiskey?"
Watari and Light look at him, surprised. "Yes, master."
"Would you like some, Light?" L asked.
"I'm not really much of an alcohol person..." Light said.
"Neither am I, really, just thought I'd try something new." L said.
Light thinks about it for a second. "Well...I guess I could try some."
L smiles. "Very well. Two whiskeys please."

You say my name, but it's not the same

Watari nods and gets the drinks. L looks over at Light. "How are things, Light?"
Light looks at L. "Things are pretty good, I guess. I just wish something exciting would happen with our case. Just the same old killings."
L nods. "I agree."

After a couple of minutes, Watari comes back with a bottle of whiskey and two small glass cups.
"Thank you, Watari." Watari hands L his glass, then Watari hands Light his glass.
"Thank you." Light said.
L pours a little bit of whiskey in his glass and so does Light. L holds his glass up. "Cheers?"
"For what?" Light asked.
"To good friends? Family? Getting one step closer to finding Kira?"
Light smiles. "Alright. Cheers." Both of their glasses clinked.

They both took a sip of their drink. L and Light could feel it burning their throats, and they started coughing.
"That's nasty." Light said.
L nodded. "Definitely."
Watari takes the whiskey. "You two don't want to drink this then?"
"No," L said, "maybe we can try a couple of beers?" He looks at Light.
"Yeah, let's do that." Light nodded.
"Very well," Watari said, "more whiskey for me then."
They both look at Watari strangely.
"What?" Watari asked, "I love whiskey."
Both L and Light chuckled.
