Chapter 4

For the past few months, I continued to see Jay. I couldn't get enough of the edge he brought into my life. I liked the fact that he was a bad boy, a thug. It turned me on and the sex was so good! He spoiled me and gave me everything I wanted and needed. I didn't mind the fact that he sold drugs because I had never seen that side of him. The only part that haunted me was that he used to be cool with Reggie and if you ain't cool with Reggie then you got beef with him and anyone that had beef with him was dead.

Today I decided to stay home and chill. I told Jimmy to call me if he needed me. I got up and looked in the mirror. My hair was a mess. Jay came over last night and fucked me so hard I came 5 times back to back. I brushed my teeth,washed my face and combed my hair into a high bun. I was starving and decided that I'll cook myself some breakfast. I made waffles,eggs and bacon and devoured it like it was my last meal.

I didn't really have plans for today. Jay was busy and Shan I hadn't talked to in the past few days. I decided to sit on the couch and watch CSI: Miami on Netflix. In the middle of the episode I got a call on my house phone. I got up excited, thinking it was my dad. I missed him so much since he moved to Georgia. I picked up the phone dancing.

"Heeeelllooo!", I said waiting for my dad to respond.

"Hey Candice.", the voice on the other end wasn't my dads' but none other than Darryls'. Shocked I sat back down, half disappointed, half confused and happy that he called.

"Hey is this who I think it is?", I said in a confused tone."

"Yea it's me baby.", he said with his deep, husky voice.

"Baby?!" , I said getting loud. "Naw don't call me baby when you're some other chick's baby!"

"Calm down. I was kidding but I'm calling because I.. I miss you Candice.", he said desperately. "Seeing you that day just made me realize how much I still love you and still want you." He was quiet for a while, waiting for my response. I didn't know what to say to something like that coming from Darryl. I thought we might be finished forever. "Candice, you still there?"

"Yea, I'm here. I just don't know what to say to something like that Darryl. What exactly are you saying?", I got up from the couch and started to pace around the living room. My heart felt like it was trying to beat out of my chest and so many things were going through my mind. What about Jay? Is Darryl serious? What is he trying to say? He wants me back?

He interrupted my thoughts and said, "I want to be your man again. I want you back. I don't know. Seeing you just was a wake up call for me. What was I thinking when I walked out 3 years ago? We could've been married by now with beautiful kids. I guess I thought that I was missing out on something but I wasn't. I know that now."

"Yea you know that now Darryl! You want me to take you back now that you realize I was your rock. I was there when no one else was. That I gave you everything you needed and wanted. I don't know I think it's too late for all that now. You can't just walk back into my life after 3 years. You left me!", tears were starting to form in my eyes. I was trying hard to hold them back but this phone call was just too much. I was so messed up when he left me and after he figured out that I was the one for him he comes back? I couldn't take it. I snapped.

"I know. I know I messed up and I'm sorry but please, just let me show you that I've changed. Just give me a chance I can be the man that you used to love and still love and I will be even better. Don't give up on us." He said pleading.

I cut straight to the chase, not acknowledging his feelings. "I'm seeing someone and .. .He cut me off.

"I don't care. I still want you. And I know you still love me. Don't do this. Don't choose him over me." He said raising his voice a little.
