ELLE'S POV -
As the days passed, the weight of everything unsaid became unbearable. Love wasn’t supposed to feel like this—heavy, suffocating, like a fight you’re too exhausted to win. But that’s exactly what it had become.
I kept replaying our last conversation in my mind. His words, “I don’t know,” echoed like a verdict. It was as though we were both standing at the edge of something, afraid to take the final step, afraid to acknowledge what we both knew was coming.
The days leading up to my birthday were a whirlwind of mixed emotions. My friends were excited, planning surprises and making me promise to enjoy the day. But inside, I felt a storm brewing. My birthday had always been a day of joy, but this year, it felt like an ominous countdown.

“I need to talk to you,” I said finally, breaking the silence.
He turned to me, his expression unreadable. “Okay.”
I took a deep breath, my heart pounding. “I can’t do this anymore,” I said, the words tumbling out before I could second-guess them.
“What do you mean?” he asked, his voice tinged with confusion and a hint of fear.
“This,” I said, gesturing between us. “Us. It’s not the same anymore. We’ve both been pretending, but deep down, we know it’s not working.”
He stared at me, his jaw tightening. “So that’s it? You’re just giving up?”
“I’m not giving up,” I said, my voice trembling. “I’ve been trying, holding on, hoping things would get better. But it’s like we’re running in circles,
