Chapter 1:

I stood in front of my balcony, admiring the quiet view of my street. This was becoming a habit of mine, relaxing while watching the cars slowly passing by and having a glass of wine on my hands.

"Amber," my mother yelled in the distance. I sighed and took steps backwards, closing the window and settling my glass in the nightstand. As I made my way downstairs, my stomach grumbled.

"You made my favorite," I said excitedly to my mom, moving to her and hugging her from behind. The lasagna smelled delicious, even the neighbors, when she cooked, wanted some, so the house was sometimes full. It was good to sometimes have the house surrounded by people that shared love and time with us, we were used to it. As soon as I was about to say something to my mother, the doorbell rang.

"Myrna!" I exclaimed as I saw the little girl in pigtails. Myrna exclaimed and held her arms up, indicating me to lift her up. I giggled softly and hugged her tight, she was just so huggable! She was about five years old; she was chubby and so cute, she was completely adorable. Not to mention how beautiful she looked in her big, round glasses.

"Amber, I missed you so much," she exclaimed. I could barely understand her: she learned to speak when she was about three, due to some condition her parents couldn't quite want to share with us. Still, this little girl was smarter than the others in her class.

"I missed you too, Mirnie," I spoke softly to her. Myrna giggled again, making my smile wider.

Her parents then came, bringing with them an apple crumble pie, which was Myrna's and I favorite. I set the table and we ate happily, chit-chatting here and there. I took Myrna with me upstairs: she was always excited to come to my room, she loved the view my balcony had.

"Amber, can I ask you something," Myrna asked softly while taking a seat on my bed.

"Sure, ask away, baby," I smiled at her.

"Can you be my sister?" she asked softly. I grinned widely at her and went to tickle her.

Myrna and her parents left a little later after they ate.
