CHAPTER 1

Once upon a time, on the Tenth Palace, the place where the Royalty keeps the orphaned and unwanted children that their parents abandoned for good, two beautiful infants were found in one large wicker basket in front of the doorway covered with sheets to keep them warm. One was covered in a white sheet that merges with the infant's skin and the other had a red sheet covering it which matched the infant's red hair. These two infants were later known to be twin sisters and that they were left in front of the Tenth Palace by a strange cloaked man on a loud thunderous and raining night, not long after their mother died. The infants were found the next day by the Headmistress, Madame Jacquelynn, or as the children in the orphanage called her, Mistress, and was clearly disappointed for there were far enough orphaned children she had to take care of. But when she saw their eyes, her spirits lightened for she knew that these two will bring her large amounts of money because the Royalties would pay generously for these twins. Not only because they were twins, but because they were Saibroes.

"Scarlett! Snow!" Mistress yelled from downstairs with her usual loud voice that traveled through the hallway and into our room. I ignored Mistress and carefully brushed my long straight jet black hair in front of the mirror before tying it back with a black ribbon that completely melded in my hair. Scarlett was behind me sitting on the bed, tying on the laces of her ankle high combat boots with her wavy dark red hair hanging loosely on her shoulders.
"Scarlett and Snow!" Mistress repeated for the second time from downstairs. I let out a loud sigh since her yelling was slowly eating away my patience, and quickly stood up, the hem of my black laced dress barely touching the skin five inches above my knees. I grab my knee length combat shoes that perfectly matched my dress at the foot of my bed and started to wedge my feet in them while Scarlett tied her hair up in a messy bun with an aqua blue hair tie.
"For the last time, Scarlett and Snow, get your asses down this instant," Mistress said as I quickly buckled the last buckle on my combat shoes. Scarlett headed towards the door and opened it, waiting for me.
"For the last time, Scarlett and Snow, get your asses down this instant," Scarlett silently mocked from the doorway, receiving a barely audible giggle from me as she closed the door. We headed outside our room and descended down the shiny mahogany stairs where we met a scowling Mistress at the bottom. Not really a happy morning greeting, but it's still a greeting.
"What took you two so long?" Mistress asked, the scowl still etched on her face. I had the urge to answer back and tell her that beauty takes time, but I doubt she'll understand that since she doesn't really look like she knows the definition of the word. Plus, I want my desert for tonight. Samson, our cook, is serving creme bulee this evening and I can't wait for the sweet taste to spread on my taste buds.
Scarlett and I both shrugged our shoulders at the same time, raising a suspicious glare from Mistress that we didn't earn.
"On to things that actually matter," Mistress continued, tearing her glare off us and walking farther from the foot of the stairs so we can actually descend the stairs without coming face to face with the big mole on the tip of her nose, "I've found you both new assassinating jobs."
Mistress handed us a flyer that said whoever kills these two descripted criminals will be rewarded ten thousand Junipers in cash that will be received after the Royalties has seen the disembodied head of both the criminals.
One of the criminals was descripted as a nineteen year old boy with silver and hazel eyes, and the other was an eighteen year old boy with gold and silver eyes. They were both last seen near the edge of the Dark Forest. And at the bottom it said that all Saibroes can also hunt them down. Wow, they really want those two dead if all Saibroes can participate. Usually, it's only the killing experts with the identification cards who aren't Saibroes that can assassinate people.
