Soulmate
noun
a person ideally suited to another as a romantic partner.

Sometimes things that are real and things that are make believe become a big blurred line between both real and fake kinda like a real life Barbie doll. Having a 'soulmate' is one of those blurred lines. Sure you could find someone you love and get married but if you never met that person it could be someone else you could've gotten married to. We all have more than one soulmate.

Soulmate's are the stupid idea that one day you will find you're perfect match, get married, have kids, and live happily ever after... blah blah blah.

See there's the blurred line, love and happily ever after. You can love you're family and your boyfriend or girlfriend but you can never live happily ever after.

This is where it all begins...

I stopped right I front of the apartment door. Behind this door is my soulmate... this should be interesting.

1 month earlier

I had found a new small secluded coffee shop a few weeks ago and decided today was the day try it out because I am a fool for new things. There was no line nor a cashier... strange.
"Hello is anyone here"
"Yeah I'll be right there" I heard from another room. I waited patiently as a young man, about my age, walked up to the counter. "what do you want?"
"Umm what do you recommend...?"
"Wait" he turned around sighing. He seems really rude, I wonder why.... Before he turned I read his name card as 'Connor' He was cute but he was too rude for my liking.

He brought me my coffee and I thanked him. "$5.60" he said impatiently I payed and left. I wonder what his deal is...

Current day 1pm

I opened the door to find three suitcases and a bunch of boxes in the middle of the room and a really expensive coffee machine box on the counter. I looked around and everything was put away in the kitchen and the living room , well everything except the suitcases.
Both of the rooms where empty and nobody else was here. I found a note on one of the luggage.

Dear Soulmate,
I'm sorry I couldn't be there to meet and greet my soulmate. I'm currently working right now so I'll let you have dibs on your room. Before you complain yes one closet is bigger than the other so choose wisely. I don't want to give my whole identity through a note so initials will have to do for now, see you at 5pm.

Love, CJF

To pass the time I decided to start moving into my room and put his stuff in his room. I obviously picked the room with the bigger closets, god forbid who do you think I am. I need my closet space.

After I finished putting all of my things away in my room, closet, and bathroom, I put his boxes and suitcases in the other room in the proper places, thanks to the labels on the side. I would've put them away for him but we haven't even met yet and going through his stuff isn't the first impression I want to give.

By the time I tidied everything and made coffee I heard someone opening the front door. "Dan?" I stood there shocked, a million things running through my head. Wait is he... without thinking I spilled scorching hot coffee on myself while freaking out. I hurried to clean it off of myself to the best of my ability.

While nearly burning my stomach off Dan was laughing at how shaken up I was and it took him what seemed like hours to calm down and actually explain what he was doing here. "I just wanted to say hi" he laughed "And I was wondering if you and your guy friend wanted to join Phil and I for dinner on Friday" he knew I didn't believe in the soulmate thing so he tried not to bring it up. "Yeah I'll ask him when I meet him and text you..." "Okay well uhh... bye" he said rushing out still giggling at what had happened.

I have realized how much I need my family close to me to function so I decided to FaceTime them. There was a bump in my plans when I realized the timezone difference.

I sat staring at the clock waiting for the time to come while thinking about CJF, in the letter he seemed like a nice person with a good sense of humor. I prayed to every power out in the universe that he wasn't a jerk and he would be someone that could be there for me and cuddle and would let me be there for him.

While daydreaming about what he looked like and what him job could possibly be, finally, someone unlocked the door and nonchalantly walked in. He looked really familiar, then it hit me like a ton of bricks...

the coffee shop man.

(AN: Btw I'm not stereotyping gay people with the whole closet thing I was imagining Troye as me for a second)
