Aaryan's pov:-
I sat in the living room, hearing footsteps rush towards me. Aaira burst in, Aarav close behind. "Bhaiya!" she exclaimed.
"Bolo," I replied, curiosity piqued.
"You have the keys to Papa's car, right?" she asked.
I raised an eyebrow. "Which car are you talking about, baccha?" Her weird talks always left me puzzled.
Aarav intervened, "The one with the recordings from our last trip."
It clicked instantly - they were referring to the old car in the garage, which I meticulously cleaned once a month.
"I don't know," I replied. "I've never opened it."
Aaira's eyes sparkled. "Bhaiya, remember that car has recordings of many things from our trip."
I furrowed my brow. "What recordings are you talking about, Aayu?" I genuinely couldn't recall any recordings.
Aaira and Aarav exchanged a knowing glance, and I sensed they were about to launch into another enthusiastic conversation.
But before that this was supposed to be a punishment , a lesson.
"First, Aaira, is every vehicle in the garage cleaned?" I asked, my tone firm, despite knowing she had likely completed most of the cleaning work. I had checked in on her a few times during my own work, not because she needed supervision, but because it was her nature to be either fully engrossed in her task or completely distracted, forgetting about her work altogether. It was a quirky trait, one she had inherited from our father.
"Yessss!" Aaira sang, her eyes sparkling.
"Very good, now go get changed," I instructed, surveying the mess on her clothes. It was a familiar sight - Aaira always seemed to find a way to get dirty, no matter the task.
"Aarav, please take that cloth for washing and go wash your hands," I added, nodding towards the cloth Aarav held.
Both of them scurried off, reappearing a few minutes later.
"Drink some water and then we'll talk," I said, eyeing Aarav, who tended to forget to stay hydrated.
Aaira rolled her eyes good-naturedly. "Yaar, bhaiya, we're not kids anymore. We're 24 years old, please."
I chuckled. While Aaira was diligent about drinking water, Aarav needed reminders.
"Which 24-year-old gets their clothes dirty while cleaning cars?" I teased.
Aaira shot me an annoyed glance, but my stern expression sent them both trooping towards the kitchen.
They returned with Aarav clutching a glass of water, and Aaira bouncing with excitement, chattering animatedly with Aarav.
I couldn't help but think, 'This is the same girl her employees are scared of?' The contrast between her tough professional persona and playful demeanor at home was striking.
Aarav handed me the glass of water, which I downed in one gulp. Placing the glass on the table, I asked them to take a seat.
As soon as they sat, Aarav began, "Bhaiya, do you remember our last trip with Mummy-Papa?"
"Of course, I do," I replied with a smile. "Your exams had ended two days before mine, and you picked me up directly from school after my exam."
Memories came flooding back. I was in 11th standard at the time, and it was our summer vacation. We had an amazing time, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
Flashback:-
(Twins-13 , Aaryan:-17)
Author's pov:-
Rudra and Shrishti were busy in Aarav and Aaira's room, helping the twins pack their bags for a surprise trip. Everyone in the household was aware of the plan, except for Aaryan. The twins, however, had already caught wind of the surprise, despite efforts to keep it under wraps. Their mischievous nature had gotten the better of them, and they had managed to extract information from Rudra and Shrishti.
To avoid arousing Aaryan's suspicion, the packing had been delayed until the last minute, when he was away at school for his exams. Shrishti was frantically rummaging through the twins' belongings, stressing every now and then, while Rudra tried to calm her down. The twins, who had been repeatedly scolded by Shrishti for interrupting her and asking questions, were now lying on Aaryan's bed, almost asleep after sneaking into Aaryan's room.
Aaryan's bedroom had become a haven for the twins, despite having their own shared bedroom. They had developed a fondness for sleeping in his room every night, with Aaryan sandwiched between them. It was a cozy ritual that had become an integral part of their daily routine. The three of them would snuggle up together, feeling safe and comfortable in each other's presence. And now, as they lay on his bed, they were eagerly awaiting the surprise trip that Rudra and Shrishti were planning.
After some time, Shrishti finally finished packing. With Aaryan's school dispersal time approaching, Rudra took it upon himself to wake the twins up, who had dozed off. Meanwhile, Shrishti packed some food for them to eat. After getting ready, Rudra, Aaira, and Aarav set off, each carrying bags.
"Aayu baccha, room ka fan off kiya na?" asked Shrishti.
Aaira nodded, still half asleep.
"Hwww, Mummy, fan maine off karke nikla hu room se, ye nahi, ye toh Bhaiya ka phone nikal rahi thi unke drawer se aur phir unka charger dhoond rahi thi," Aarav said, bubbling with excitement about the trip.
"Kyu Aayu, tumhe kya karna hai Bhaiya ke phone ka?" Rudra asked sternly.
"Aare Mummy, aapne bola tha na ki Bhaiya ka phone yaad se unke bag mein rakhna, toh ye vahi kar rahi thi," Aarav replied.
"Accha, thik hai," Rudra replied when Shrishti nodded.
"Mumma, Papa, let's go! It's almost time to pick up Bhaiya," Aaira said, yawning.
"Okay, let's go," Shrishti said, moving out with the bag of food.
"Okay, everyone, listen! I want to make this trip a memory, and we'll be recording it," Shrishti announced, setting up the mini camera.
The family waved at the camera with big smiles and began their journey, first heading towards Aaryan's school. Almost halfway there, Shrishti asked Rudra, "Rudra, did I turn off the main switch?"
Rudra and the twins nodded together, shouting "Yes!" in unison, knowing all too well that this wouldn't be the last time Shrishti would ask this type of question.
