Many years passed before he could even think of setting foot back there. She was his one, his only, and now she was gone. The brutal act of terror left him with no one to love. Empty. He wanted to find them, kill them, or worse. But it wasn't just himself he had to account for. If their young daughter at the age of four could have understood what had killed her mother, she would have been furious as well.

Hate crimes are few and far between in their small city of Bismark, a main reason for settling there. Still they didn't go about, gallivanting that they were a family of witches, in fact they tried to keep that bit of information as secret as possible. However, it had gotten out that the late Julia was one of witchcraft, and she was not welcomed so kindly anymore.

After learning that it had come out, poor Julia only wanted her family to run. Soon after finding her beaten and bloodied beyond death, they had no choice but to lie, or to hide. Adeline being so small, yet so wise, somehow understood the depth of what had happened to her mother and what was bound to happen to herself and her father. So they left.

Growing older she slowly realized how much her father was suffering. Having fallen in love, and started a family of her own, she decided to confront her father about his troubles. Death was the only thing that could give him his love back. Saying their last goodbyes, Adeline looked at her father with a deep swell of pride.

"I will always love you." He smiled, and turned away from her for the very last time.
