13: Birthday Issues

As the weeks passed, a few things changed.

The leaves started falling from the trees. And not just a little. I mean a whole whack of them just dropped from the sky. Which pretty much resulted in me and Chase cleaning them up.

Every. Single. Week.

Why did we choose to live in a house with a huge maple tree and a huge oak tree smack dab in the middle of the front yard?

Speaking of Chase, his friends are awesome. This one girl, named Tori, is super amazing. Not only is she smart (pretty much as smart as me), she rocks at soccer. She's a better goalie than Kira! And Kira's the goalie for the girls school soccer team.

Some of Chase's old friends were douches. They either ignored me or asked me to introduce them to my fellow cheerleaders. It's not like Chase wanted to be friends with them in the first place, but he can't exactly just say, 'Oh, hi there. Are you over to hang out? Well, sorry, but honestly? I've always hated you, but I'm just too nice to say it and I don't actually want to be your friend. Bye!' When he started playing football and became this master wide receiver, and all these girls started paying more attention to him, all of the football players tried to become friends with him. They were all thinking that if they were friends with Chase, they might actually get girlfriends instead of one night stands. The truth? Chase is nice, and okay looking. The girls like that he's nice! Being a good football player was just an added bonus.

But when Chase and I moved, he had a perfect excuse not to hang out with them and make actual friends, like the people he hangs out with now. Andra and Jasmine are both really nice, but Andra can snap back faster than an alligator who just got his meal taken away if someone is mean to her or her friends. I wish I could come up with comebacks that quickly. Louis is a baseball lover. He's an Orioles fan, which means that we'll get along just fine.

Chase has invited them over a few times, and I visited one of those times. We spent that day watching Chase, Louis and Andra play video games, and also watching Andra and Chase get their butts kicked by Louis in every game.

"How did I lose to Princess Peach?" Andra asks herself, thoroughly disgusted.

Louis played as every character, including Princess Peach, to prove that he rocks at this game. Which he does. This boy is good at EVERY. DARN. GAME. IN. THE. WORLD.

"If it makes you feel better, you got second!" Louis tells her.

"It wasn't even a close second!" Andra retorts.

"But it was still second!"

As they continue bickering, I turn to talk to Tori.

"Please tell me they're not like this all the time." I moan. "If I have to hear this one more time, I will burst into flames.

"Andra is.. um... how do I put this nicely... extremely over competitive. She hates losing, and I mean hates it. She doesn't like it very much that Louis is better at video games than her."

"Okay! I'm done! I'm sick and tired of you guys arguing! Can we just play foosball?" Chase begs after 20 minutes.

"Fine, okay. I call dibs on blue!" Andra calls, sprinting down into the basement.

The rest of that day was a football tournament. Andra won, Chase was second, Tori and I tied for third, Louis was fourth and Jasmine was last.

"Okay, maybe I'm not good at foosball." Jasmine admits sheepishly.

But all in all, that was a pretty great day. It got me wondering about whether or not I should invite my friends over sometime.

Plus, my birthday was in just a week and a half. Should I have a party? I mean, I am turning 15. Maybe I could invite my friends?
