Dante’s POV
This is it! The day the gen rise squad finally gets to hang out! I couldn't sleep a wink last night because I was too excited. I mean, it’s been a while you get to spend time with your best friends after three whole years of being apart. But what’s got me really excited? Delta’s coming too! I still can’t believe that Delta actually agreed to hang out!
Now here I am, standing by the amusement park gate, way too early because I couldn’t contain myself. I figured it’d be better to be early than risk being late, but wow, I didn’t think I’d be this early. To kill time, I decided to buy the tickets for everyone. Now the tickets are safe in my pocket.
I glance around and start pacing back and forth because I'm bored. Man, I should’ve brought something to do while I wait.
I pace back and forth as my mind starts racing with random thoughts. Hmm what ride should we go on first? The roller coaster? Merry Go Round? Or the Arcade?
I stop thinking and shake my head, I should stop using too much brain power and energy in the morning or I'll lag and too tired to play.
I glance at my watch and groan. There’s still plenty of time before anyone else shows up. I facepalm.
“Ughhhh, note to self: never show up this early again,” I mutter to myself. But then I smile. Even if I’m stuck here waiting, it’s all worth it. Today’s going to be legendary. I can feel it.
I continue pacing back and forth, trying to shake off the boredom, when suddenly I spot someone familiar in the distance. My heart skips a beat. Is that… Delta?
I squint, making sure I’m not just imagining things. Nope, it’s definitely him. He’s wearing a dark maroon shirt layered over a black turtleneck, tucked neatly into black trousers with a sleek black belt. Seriously, he looks like he just stepped out of a fashion magazine or something. Delta always has that effortlessly cool vibe, but this? This is the next level.
(For people who can't imagine 👍)
It’s kind of weird seeing him like this, though. I’m so used to his usual battle gear that seeing him all dressed up for a casual hangout throws me off for a second. I kinda miss the bright red jacket. But who knew Delta had this side to him? However.. I can't deny he looks really good looking, I can’t help but blush a bit.
I quickly shake my head and pat my cheeks. Okay, Dante, get it together! This is not the time to start adoring him! I take a deep breath, trying to focus on anything other than how cool Delta looks right now.
Delta glances around as he gets closer, his red, ruby-like eyes scanning the area. Then, his red eyes lock onto mine. Oh crap. My breath hitches, and before I can stop myself, I flinch and look away, my cheeks heating up. My heart’s doing this weird, fluttery thing, like it doesn’t know how to beat properly anymore. Oh my god, this is so embarrassing!
By the time Delta reaches the gate, I’ve managed to pull myself together, don’t want to embarrass myself in front of him hehe
“Hey, Delta!! You’re early!” I say with a grin, trying to sound as casual as possible and act like nothing happened. “I didn’t think you’d actually beat anyone else here.”
Delta shrugs, calm and collected as ever. “Figured it’d be quieter if I got here before the chaos started.”
“Fair enough. But still, it’s kind of a shock seeing you this early.”
“Oh, by the way!” I grab the tickets and show him the seven tickets. “I already got the tickets for everyone! We’re all set to head in as soon as the others get here!” I grin.
Delta glances at the tickets, then shifts his gaze back to me. “You’ve been here a while, haven’t you?”
I laugh sheepishly. “Uh… yeah. Maybe just a little too early. But hey, I’m just excited, okay?”
Delta crosses his arms, leaning back against the gate. “Excited, huh? I can tell,” he says flatly. His piercing red eyes scan the area briefly before settling back on me.
Delta’s gaze lingers on me for a moment, his expression unreadable. “You’re always like this,” he says flatly, his tone carrying just the faintest trace of amusement.
“Like what?” I ask, tilting my head curiously.
“Too eager,” he replies, glancing away.
I blink, then let out a sheepish laugh. “Well, what can I say? I can’t help it. Today’s a big deal, you know? Plus, it’s been forever since we all hung out!”
Delta doesn’t respond, his attention drifting back to the entrance. He doesn’t seem annoyed, just… distant, like he always is. I’m used to it by now, but it still makes me wonder what’s going on in his head sometimes.
“Let’s just hope the others actually show up on time,” he mutters, glancing at his watch.
I glance at him, still trying to get a read on his mood. “So, uh… any rides you’re looking forward to?” I ask, trying to warm his cold demeanor.
He shakes his head slightly. “Not really. I’m just here because you guys wanted to hang out.”
“Oh, come on! There’s gotta be something that catches your interest,” I say, trying to coax a bit more out of him. “But hey, who knows? Maybe you’ll actually have fun.”
“I’ll believe it when I see it,” he says flatly. Damn so cold.
I let out a dramatic sigh. “Man, you’re impossible sometimes. But don’t worry, Delta. I’ll make it my mission to make sure you have a blast today!” I grin.
Delta glances back at me, and for a split second, his expression softens. It’s barely noticeable, but it’s there. “Good luck with that.”
Before I can say anything else, Delta’s eyes shift toward the entrance. “Looks like someone’s finally here,” he says, his voice as steady as ever.
I turn around and spot a group of familiar people approaching. Finally! The squad is starting to arrive. Things are about to get a whole lot livelier and hopefully a bit less awkward. Who knows? Maybe Delta will be less cold.
