Prolouge: A Hazardous Day

'Let the rain wash away the pain of yesterday' I heard that quote before, but there was no way the rain could miraculously wash away the pain I endured yesterday. Not in my case.

I quickened my pace as rain drops lightly, plopped and splattered on the ground. Before I knew it the rain began to become more intense, to the point where the rain was drumming against the ground.  My vision was blurred maybe due to the rain that downpoured mercilessly, or maybe it was the tears that I felt  that stung and welled up in my eyes.

The pain I felt that caused havoc in my mind, and my shattered heart stirred and whirled like the most tumultuous tornado of emotions.
I couldn't get caught up in the agony I endured, because I had to run. Run for my life or face death itself. I could hear the very nearing howl of the dogs, and even through from the thick rain I could still acutely smell the handlers  that led them.

I tried sprinting faster, but I wasn't exactly built for running. I wonder how I even got to be in this situation in the first place, why the hunted fell for the hunter. I always dreamed of the perfect love and a happily ever after.  In my situation however; how is that supposed to occur when the one who possesses your heart is pursuing you and intends to kill you?
