"WAKE THE FUCK UP YOU BEAN SPROUT!" My brother hollered, as he yanked open the curtains. Which filtered in the excruciatingly bright light in my once dark room.

"Ugh.....what the hell don't call me that jackass!" I groggily muttered, as I gave my brother my death stare.

"Tch, whatever kid." He replied back, then left my room FINALLY!

I reluctantly sat up out of my fortress of sheets, and held up a hand to shield the shitty light that seemed to seep in from every corner of my room. My life seemed to consist of being repetitive in 4 simple steps;
Step1: Get woken up by my jack ass older brother.

Step2: Eat the disgusting, but well attempted breakfast from my mom who absolutely has no cooking skills.

Step3: Go to work at the same weird ass bunny themed cafe, for long hours.

Step4: come home. Repeat all four steps.

Sighing, I finally gained the will to leave my sanctuary, and repeat the hell I lived. I plopped down in my seat at the table, and glanced at the burnt monstrosity of salmon on my plate. Instead of settling at the table everyone stood wearily, eyes transfixed by the news channel.

"What's so important right now that you guys can't eat breakfast?" I asked, as I tilted my head to get a better view.

A news woman with long blonde hair, and wide blue eyes started saying in a very cheerful voice despite the grave situation.

"We are here to report that in the metropolis area of Shadestone, there have been many alleged killings of Felinus by Exterminators. More Exterminators have also begun to enlist into the Hound Squad. Citizens of Shadestone be cautious."

I felt a chill run up my spine... I could also sense the discomfort of my mother and brother as the atmosphere in the room became tense.

My mother glanced at me with a smile plastered on her face, but despite that I could see the discomfort and worry worn that's taken its toll on her. Most of all I could see the pain lingering in her amber eyes.

"Don't pay any mind to that, I'm sure everything is okay!" She said in a cheerful voice, that cracked and faltered. She couldn't lie to me. She was worried to death.

My brother scowled, and clenched his fists till his knuckles turned white. He punched his white fist against the wall, and stormed out of the room.

"Tawnex-" I started, but my mother cut me off abruptly.

"Let Tawnex go he just needs to let off some steam..... I'm sure he won't get in trouble this time."

"You said that last time...." I muttered, and my mom seemed to flinch at my words. She knew I was right.

"Calixto..... Just eat your breakfast and go." She replied shortly, while her face seemed to darken.

I can hardly remember the last time the news channel didn't, mention Felinus killings. I can't remember the last time my mom didn't have to put up a fake facade, for me and Tawnex. This is how things are though. I'm not human... I am a feline hybrid species that started in a laboratory by "accident", I am a Felinus.

Felinus are a type of species that is seen by the public as a nuisance. Due to that fact Exterminators known as the Hound Squad have the purpose of eradicating my species from Shadestone City. I've been living a life of being in hiding ever since the rule had been decreed by state officials to rid of Felinus. I'm only allowed to go out during certain hours, maintain my Felinus side from humans and I always have to ensure one of the clan members "babysits me". My kind generally tends to stick together in Clans , because "strength comes in numbers."

Fortunately, Felinus are able to counter the Hound Squad's attacks. With heightened senses we are able to avoid some of their attacks. Most of all we have 9 lives; however once you lose all nine it's game over. Sadly my father had used up all nine lives, and had been brutally murdered by the Exterminators. Which left my mom as the only one who could protect me and my brother. I still can sense the horror that lurked in my mother's mind, when she hears the mere word Exterminators..

Living like rats, fleeing, and trapped was the unevitable life that had been selected for me. I always wondered "what if" my father hadn't been killed, "what if " I didn't have to constantly fear for my life.... All of those possibilities became false realities which led to one thing, and that's being a Felinus..
